We've been waiting quite a while for the Stem Decks to get their official release in Traktor, but as of yesterday the wait is over. Of course to be able to use the Stem Decks requires a Kontrol S8/D2/F1 for native control, so we've built a first round mapping for the versatile Midi Fighter Twister (currently 20% in the DJTT store) to allow complete control of Stems volume, FX routing and levels, and Filters.
We've had a number of requests for unique colored Midi Fighter Twisters from our friends, fans, and even a few famous artists who are using the device - so we decided to make out a super limited run of Twisters that have a unique look to them.
Our friend Shawn Wasabi is back on the Midi Fighter performance train, this time with an epic three minute performance that mashes up samples and sounds from over 150 different songs. What makes this performance special the use of a custom-made Midi Fighter 64 that we built exclusively for Shawn at his request. Click in to learn more about the controller and performance.
A common theme in recent years in the production world are producers who who want to not only make incredible music, but also strive to find a way to create their productions in real time, live performances. One of our favorites is Rheyne, who we've featured on the site many times before and who even wrote a fantastic roundup review of iOS production tools.
Last November DJ TechTools challenged members of the community with the Midi Fighter Twist-Off Contest. Whoever could produce the best video routine showcasing the Midi Fighter Twister would be the recipient of $500 in store credit and would have their video featured on the DJTT Blog and social media networks. We received several entries and have finally chosen a winner. Read on to find out who the Twist-Off champion is.
We've been a continual fan of Netherlands-based live performance artist Binkbeats, who crafts incredible songs out of digital and traditional instruments. His performances gained hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, and in a new video shot at the Le Guess Who festival last November, we get to see a new set up that features the Midi Fighter Twister as the central hub of control for effects, volume, and more.
My Macbook is a pretty powerful DJ laptop, but even that powerhouse has started taking a dump over the past 6 months. The problem is caused by 2 main culprits. First, more tracks every week means the 250 GB hard drive is always maxed out. Last, the system drive (HDD) is dragging its sorry butt and taking forever to process data. The good news is that a close friend offered a clever way to solve both of those problems with one simple upgrade that costs anywhere from $250-$600.
