I have my lpd 8 now and I must say I love it! Its so fun to jump between hot cues in traktor with it and saves me from turning juggle mode on and off all the time to toggle. Not to mention the led's are super bright and look very cool. Even tho the knobs are somewhat short they seem surprisingly smooth and are great to use with effects taking advantage of the extra banks in traktor. I would reccomend this cheap controller to anyone, you have nothing to lose!

Is anyone using this as their only controller for Traktor?
If so does it remove the need for a mouse? Or do you find yourself still using the mouse to do things like searching for tracks and skipping through a track?

It's definitely constructed as a complement to your DVS-system or another controller.
From the pure number of possible different messages you could control everything with it but it would be really annoying.

Purely because I don't have a midi controller at the moment and I'm looking for a single controller that's as cheap as possible so I can stop using the mouse...

In that case the LPD8 might what you are looking for although you will be disappointed of how difficult the handling will be.
Why not go with a Hercules DJ Console or anything really cheap to start of?DJDiscourse.com — the new DJ community

Thanks for the tips.
I think you are right - I will have to spend a bit more than the LPD8 to get something useable it seems.
I already have a good analogue mixer so I might have a look around on eBay for a midi controller like a FaderFox or A&H 1D. Any other suggestions you have would be appreciated.

I haven't had a chance to look at the Stanton units.. They do look nice, i wish there was a place setup near by that you could try before you buy
