Numark is announcing several new products at NAMM including follow ups to their flagship NS7 controller and affordable Mixtrack controllers. The NS7 III is the successor to the “best controller ever built”, the NS7 II. Numark has managed to elegantly add 3 screens to the NS7 III without compromising on the size or features. The Mixtrack 3 and […]
There's some interesting movement on the DVS pricing front - mirroring a price drop on Traktor Kontrol Z2 that we saw in February, Native Instruments has resurrected the 25% off sale for all of December. Beyond pointing out that's it's a great deal at $599 (and we'll include Chroma Caps if you grab one in the DJTT webstore), there's a bit of interesting speculation to be had on what's motivating the price drop.
Before the release of Serato DJ 1.7, DVS (digital vinyl system) options were limited. The only way to use turntables or CDJs with Serato was to have either a Rane soundcard mixer, the Pioneer DJM 900SRT, or the Pioneer DDJ-SZ. These options were all pretty expensive. With the release of 1.7, Serato has expanded their […]
Starting to DJ doesn’t have to be so expensive or intimidating that it freaks you out. We reviewed six DJ controllers for under $300 that include their own soundcards, high-level software, and enough features to see you through to your first gigs and beyond. Whether you’re looking for a fun hobby, a side income, or are gunning to be the next Aviciësto, your first step is only a small payday away.
The inMusic group has expanded dramatically – perhaps best indicated by the entire block of products prominently displayed at industry conventions like the NAMM show. Today, they’re announcing the acquisition of three brands from D&M Holdings – Denon Professional, Denon DJ, and Marantz Professional. This doesn’t mean that they’re outright purchasing Denon, as the D&M […]
What if you didn't have to bring your laptop to the gig, just your controller? Sure, we've had a few real and concept offerings over the last few years, including Stanton's SCS.4DJ (released but never quite got the user interface/software dialed), my own Kontrol S4 MK3 mockup, a few others - but today we got wind of a few controllers that could make the concept a reality.
The near-larger than life Serato DJ controller, the Numark NS7 II, reaches for the sky by combining the best of both the turntablist and controllerist worlds. Touch-sensitive controls, MPC pads, a mack-daddy audio interface, and full-service vinyl platters are just part of the menu. Check it out to see if this all-you-can-eat approach is right […]
The parade of compact, affordable, all-in-one controllers marches on with the Numark Mixtrack Pro II taking the spotlight. This clear improvement over the original ditches stiff buttons and giant jog wheels for a sleeker design, including 16 inviting MPC-style pads for playing your samples, loops, and cue points. Out-of-the-box integration with Serato DJ Intro and […]
