Last week we reported in this article that the VCI-300 would not be working with programs other than Itch. Good news, it didn’t take long to figure out a work around and we now have a solution that allows you to use the high resolution midi with any program.
The secret lies in our new cross platform program called “mini.Translator” which will be released in the coming weeks. mini Translator is a very powerful program that allows you to run the most complex setups with absolutely no midi knowledge. Just install the vci-300 preset and mini translator will hijack the incoming midi, convert the messages, and send them back out to your dj program. Its a tiny program that uses very little processing power and serves only one purpose: To load pre-sets that we create for different pieces of hardware and do all the complex math behind the scenes.
The VCI-1OOSE upgrade package will include mini.Translator and a preset which emulates the VCI-100 version 1.3 firmware. Just load the TKS file, run mini.T and you will be rocking a whole new set of controls!

So, would I be able to use the Vestax VCI-300 with Serato SCRATCH LIVE by using mini.Translator
hey everybody, is the tool down ? just bought the vci-300 because of scratching mp3´s and using effects in traktor …but i´ve never get the link for download….thats very very sad…maybe i had to sell it …please help.
Hello,
Can you send me please the download link for the mini translator. i simly want to connect my Tractor to the VCI 300.
Thanks,
Tomer
I follow all the step to install the mini.t and the patch. What it does is it installs about 8 MIDI new ports, and after I try to use the mini.t
a message on the patch says "1: Project file refused because it is not correctly signed.
Use Bome's Midi Translator Author to create signed project files for MT Player."
What should I do? I can not use my traktor 3.4.
YEs,
I will work on a TSI file but I recommend you also start on one as we really have our plate full at the moment. 🙁
Ean,
will there also come a TSI file, that you created for te 100, for the 300 ?
sorry the download form for mini translator is not in this post as mentioned above but actually here:

We just sent out a free update of mini T to everyone subscribed to the list above. Anyone can sign up to the mini T list and receive the software and patch as a free download. Use the form above to sign up.

Hello everyone, I am new to this board and to the world of Digital DJing and controllerism. I was set on purchasing the VCI-300 to jump into this but then I came across the VCI-100 SE, now I am not sure, could use some help. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post. I would really like to make a purchase that will give me all the basics and allow me to grow as my skills do. Thanks so much in advance.

Hey Ean. is the mini.translator out or is it still being tested. I just bought the vci-300 and I have Traktor already setup using BCD3000 but I will install the itch that comes with the 300, but I would like to keep using Traktor on it also. I was looking at the Vci-100 but don't want to hook up any other cards or adapters such as a soundcard when you can get everything in one like the vci-300. But until mini.translator comes out I will be playing with the itch a minute.[/quote]
The translator is just about ready, send me an email and we will give you a demo version to test out.

has mini.translator been released yet? is it available for download?
great device
ok, nice, fine!!!!
is SCRATCHING now better (does it feel and sound better)
with this VCI300 (translated into traktor!)
than with the vci100 (in traktor) ?
or only possible but still not nicer like with itch?
The article above says that the mini.Translator app will be with the vci-100se upgrade pack – but is it going to be made publicly available as a standalone application ?
I'm currently waiting for the VCI-300 to hit stores before I get it – it fits within my ?500 GBP budget, and means I dont have to go and get a seperate soundcard / mixer (as I would have to for the -100)
Yes, I'm new to the whole midi-controller-style of DJing; the -300 appears to be perfect for my requirements. The ability to use this app to get the -300 away from the supplied Itch s/w if needs be…

Ok i missed that OSC statement, where-ever you made it – because its not on this page :p
Using Bomes to for incremental movements of the pitch is also possible using midi translation on the VCI-100. In fact this is something i started working on the other day.
What midi messages does the VCI-300 use natively ?
<blockquote cite="#comment-7885">Thats really good news.
What midi format exactly does the device use and what do you plan on converting it to ? Some of us like this information 😉
Like I said Traktor also supports OSC that has better resolution. Aside from that, controlling the pitch can be hacked to use inc/dec instead of absolute position.

Actually, thats not true- we have found a way to make Traktor read the high resolution data by putting it in another format. So, yes- you will be able to control traktor in high resolution with the VCI-300

thanks bentosan, thats the fact i was looking for.
now the question is, will NI try and support the hi res protocol the vci300 is using? at least sometime in the future?
Bomes will allow the use of those high resolution midi messages with use with Traktor. However Traktor still does not use the high resolution midi messages. So the translator would be converting the midi into low resolution messages that Traktor can use.
In other words, while it will work with Traktor it will still feel like mixing with a vci-100 more or less. So take that into consideration if you are purchasing one.
The high resolution midi messages will be slightly useful if you are doing intense midi translations – but tempo and jog wheel control will still feel the same as a vci-100 no matter what translations you are doing.
Hope this helps.
I will need to get the exact specs but its very, very low. Something around .04 ms
how does mini.translator effect latency?
I would love to see a VCI-100 preset with a Torq output. I love Traktor, but also own Torq and it's midi learn doesn't play well with the VCI-100. The Torq 1.5 update looks promising(when it finally is released).
besides the jog wheel upgrade… any other reason to go for the 300 intead of the 100… I think I still like the vci-100 better… what do you guys think?
How nice of BOME to make such cute solution. Crossplatform and free. As I presume, the midiTranslatorPro is able to produce patch files, right?
Not only were you "that guy", but you weren't even first. That hurts.
Looks great! Can't wait for the 1.3 upgrade
darn it
first !!!1!!!!
=) very nice)) so when the vci300 will be on the market?
