Serato Audio Research has released a free update to their digital dj software, Itch. Version 1.1 does not bring any major features like effects but addresses bugs, streamlines the software and adds a few helpful extras. Read on for more details after the break.
Normally we don’t like to cut and paste press releases but Dj TechTools is supposed to be on vacation this week, so the easy route is just going to have to cut it one this one. We do however have several pro Itch users lined up to do a full review of the new update and give you the real scoop on how it performs.
Auckland, New Zealand (24th July 2008) Serato Audio Research release Serato ITCH 1.1
Serato Audio Research are excited to announce the release of ITCH 1.1, which gives DJs more freedom, more music and more ways to connect with their crowd. Owners of the new Numark NS7 and popular Vestax VCI-300 ITCH DJ controllers will experience new custom features, better performance and access to more music faster than ever.
After reaching agreement with major and independent music labels, Serato have now added ITCH support for promotional audio ?les from their Whitelabel Delivery Network. This ground breaking service from Serato offers DJs access to fresh promotional releases at no charge through Whitelabel.net,
The Whitelabel mp3 will only play high quality when a Serato approved hardware device is connected. If the of?cial Serato hardware is not connected, the audio plays at a low grade preview rate. This unique form of security makes ?le sharing super?uous and has restored the power of breaking new music to professional DJs.
“Whitelabel.net has been an amazing resource for our Scratch Live DJs for a while now,” explains General Manager Sam Gribben, “it?s very exciting to be able to extend this offer to ITCH DJs. Whitelabel.net is gaining support from a range of professional DJs, using a variety of platforms, which, is invaluable for the participating labels.”
The tedious task of writing down set lists is a thing of the past with the new History feature. Now, ITCH willkeep a comprehensive record of every track played, during every gig as a separate list. The ability to export sessions from History to ‘txt’, ‘csv’, or ‘m3u’ allows professional DJs to play-list radio shows and club sets with ease.
DJs can now customize their column views in each crate and a brand new ?key? column has been included as well, to help when ?sorting by key?. The load time for large libraries has been optimized and the iTunes library can now be collapsed in the crate selector window, giving DJs total control over the organization of their music collection.
Loop Roll is an exciting new looping feature in ITCH that lets you activate a loop on any track with a valid BPM, similar to the existing auto-loop function. When you release the Loop Roll button, the playhead jumps to the position where it would have been if you hadn’t looped.
ITCH 1.1 is a free download and is available from
The WhiteLabel.net service is awesome. Some folks on this forum have said there is nothing on WhiteLabel.net except hip hop music. That is false. There is a TON of other genres of music. I spin dirty electro and hip hop music, and WhiteLabel is a great place for indie singles, instrumentals, and a lot of artists from across the pond (artists/DJs from outside the U.S.) The WhiteLabel service is years ahead of its time. Its rare now to see a dj get vinyl singles mailed to him/her personally from the record labels. The online iteration of this is just a preview of what the future hold for digital djs/producers/artists of any kind.

but where is support for 64bit systems (ns7)??
I would like to join the chorus of the above posts and add another voice to say the serato itch developement is far too slow and the product is very expensive! Looking at update history of serato I can only hope they will gear up, there’s some major competition in the making itch will have to dress warm for…
That beeing said I love the system to bits – way to go!
Hey,
Its really good to see that Serato is adding some features. I must admit the history feature is very cool and the loop roll is a nice touch as well.
I am a little saddened to see to whitelable only working with Serato though. It’d be nice to be use those tracks with any platform. Whitelabel should think about using the business plan as Gigacrate (http://www.gigacrate.com/), which has a similar process but allows all users to download and use.
I may sound like a broken record, but serato needs some effects before I seriously consider purchasing it…
Well predicted that by september so a month left
and on one website in uk i have seen that it is already marked 198euros or pounds
well anyway we all know that it is gonna hit usa with the first wave
hopefully we dont need to strugle with having as many problems as we had before with vci 300
198eur, way too expensive. The VCI300 was already expensive enough. If that is the case my VCI300 goes for sale. Im tired of the very slow development of Itch and all this waiting. And Itch stable… had already two crashes during a gig. Traktor is evenly stable as Itch so for me its not a selling point.
Great soft for Rap/HipHop/Scratch DJ but other style Djs will need other functions.

Besides that I am really waiting for FX 1 controller that way i can be fully set up.
Dont really care about the WHITELABEL, since it does not have the jams that i play in the clubs

I don’t beleive that FX1 will come so fast! cheers!
And I agree with you about the tracks available in whitelabel, only hiphop does not make every happy! 🙂

This new version of ITCH is very stable compare to last stable one.
So it make the usability better.
But the Whitelabel integration is not professional, Serato/Whitelabel had provided download for ITCH users for this new version but the quality that they told 320kp/s is not real that means for me it is a big merchandize.
So
I would like to ask a technical question how can I meter if a MP3 have credible informations stored?
