We first introduced you to the Dj ToolBox, the amazing instant dj kit that makes a party rocker out of everyone. Now Dj Tech ( a Chinese manufacturer of dj products) promises to take anyone to the next level with the $79 dj mouse. With this revolutionary “patent pending” tool, you can “become a DJ in one minute, without the science of mixing music.” Amazing! The YouTube effect is a cruel denizen, it can either totally make you or in this case- totally break you. Read on for a very memorable video…
The sad thing is that the core concept, a mouse with some simple dj focused tools is actually totally viable (note to self). If their marketing campaign, brand image and amazzzing claims were instantly removed some people might actually take a similar product seriously.
Dj-Tech is proud to announce the first Dj mouse ( patent pending ), as it said, this mouse is fully designed and made for all DJ applications. With a selection of serious materials and having in mind the great aluminum and rubber feeling, discover how easy to manipulate songs and mix them. So funny to use the Automix and sampled sounds / jingles to get into the partys with PERFECT BEAT MATCH. Powered by worldwide best dj software Deckadance for MAC and PC, the powerful auto beat engine and the section of digital effects are the tools to shape your mix. The built-in Jog and the direct access to SCRATCH, will rock your computer and heat the dance floor. DJ mouse includes a special mat for optimising the quality of your scratch performance. The Blue ring Led is so helpful to locate your position on the mat and drive your performance.
Just Plug, Play, Mix, and ROCK your computer with Dj Mouse.

Yes! I can’t wait for the future.
A mouse with a jog wheel? You can use that for all kinds of stuff in the studio. As soon as I find one Ill buy it.
Info about DJ-Tech company.. kontrol one doesnt look so bad but not sure about that mouse!

Oh, man, I just checked out DJ Tech’s new YouTube videos … for new products you can make almost DJ-like SOUNDS with. Check ’em out… you can turn the effects On… AND Off!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlFOtZ4fDqU
i really think that djtech ( the brand ) marketing sucks , however , they have a few nice products , even if i find the design awfull.
the kontrol one controller seems to be very nice , with a metal case and lights around the knobs , and i’ve got a imix reloaded that is very close to the vc100 ( yes the vestax is prettier ).
Djing is a expensive passion , so for those who want to try without going broke , djtech has nice products.
Now again , the advertising is not very seriours , but maybe it is because they cant afford big names like ean golden , hey 😉
What’s funny is that its basically a jogwheel… and you can get a GREAT jogwheel that is heavy, smooth, and “real”:

you know i looked at the step up model for 89$ and i am getting ideas for how i could use it with my laptop. 15 programmable functions. the contour sight also had a mouse that you used your wrists to use. lots of potential controllerism projects are comming to my mind. thanks for the link and thans Ean Golden for a great webpage.
So…to chill out the arguments I feel brewing here, I’d like to throw in my spare change. I really like the idea behind this product. I know there are many other people out there would would like something like this, too. A jog wheel incorporated into a mouse is indeed a very useful modification of an already iconic idea. I can think of many practical applications both in DJing, and in studio work.
Something I would like to point out is that without this article, which highlights the over-the-top marketing video, I would never have heard of this product. Even negative publicity is good publicity, because it puts a name on the lips of talkative people. I’m definitely considering buying one, for two reasons:
1.) It’s an innovative product, and it looks to me to be incredibly useful.
2.) It comes with Deckadance LE. I’m a user of Image-Line products (FL Studio), but I’ve been so wrapped up in Traktor, I’ve not given myself the money or time to give Deckadance a proper try. The fact that the LE version is bundled with this mouse makes it more attractive, because I get two cool experimental experiences packaged together.
3.) (Yes, I said two reasons :P) That mouse pad looks cool. Even if I don’t think of it as a slipmat, it’s a thin mousepad designed for optical mouse tracking, and to top it off, it sports a design inspired by the iconic turntable. That’s cool in my book.
In response to anyone inclined to make fun of DJ Chris’ English grammar, keep in mind that English (especially American English) is one of the most complicated languages to learn. The grammar structures are inconsistent, there is no standard conjugation system, and there’s a whole host of other hurdles to learning it to a level of complete fluency. Also understand that French is an almost-equally-complicated language with similar hurdles in the way of gaining fluency. I studied French for ten years (from kindergarten through eighth grade by requirement), and while I have a permanent ability to understand most written French, I’d be hard-pressed to properly conjugate one-third of the verbs placed before me, much less construct an entire several-paragraph comment on a blog in defence of a DJ Mouse.
All that said, I’m buying one; not for the purpose of becoming a superstar DJ without the mucking about in mixing science, but for the purpose of giving a decent-looking product a good use. If nothing else, it winds up in my collection of unused equipment and becomes the centrepiece of a coffee-table discussion about innovative products, marketing, or DJing.
Thank you, DJ Chris @ DJ-Tech for this innovative product, and thank you also for the amusing but to-the-point marketing video.
Thank you Ean @ DJ Tech Tools for the news post about this product. Without you, I would have missed my chance to hear about yet another advancement in DJ technology.
Dj-tech (represented by DJChris) have thoroughly convinced me to not support their products, many of which seem to show some promise. Until Dj-tech quells it’s unjustified sense of self entitlement, and eliminates those awful product ads, my money will continue to support companies that promote open and welcoming communities.
we are talking about the mouse, Tks to EAN.
why not to talk about uSolo ?
why not to talk about U2 Station.
i guess they are innovative products and in this time of recession, many djs amateur or pro should find some solution.

Regarding the accusation of Racism because we pointed out that Dj Tech is a Chinese company. I am simply stating a fact, which has no implication other than to give people a context of where the company is from. In many articles journalists mention a companies origin, or back ground facts to give the reader more information about the company in question. If a fact is wrong then please dispute it though email with supporting documentation and I would be more than happy to change the post.
Thanks to everyone that has been trying to keep us on track with constructive comments and on-topic points. Lets keep that up and avoid further negative discussions. if they continue, this thread will get deleted.

Okay, I want to make 3 things clear:
1. Remember the hate that people got when transferring from vinyl to CDs and nowadays to MIDI? 😉
2. Language barriers. I know french often do not speak english as well as they could, would or should. I sometimes have the same thing, while being dutch.
Just stop getting too pissed. On the net things often are beat/struck down by the infamous internet warriors.
Don’t mind them. Make sure that the article is correct.
What I am reading is that the Mouse could be a good thing. (Even though the marketing campaign could use some work).
Live with it!
1. The winner of the Bali mix contest, B33s0n has demo’d for DJ Tech, if I am correct. He was quite pleased with the 202 controller. (That’s the Xone 1d look-a-like right?)
So please, get this over with!
Whoa guys, lets not get to the point that we break down into hurling abuse at one another.
There is clearly a language barrier issue that is the problem here, everyone just needs to take a deep breath and chill out.
@Dj Chris – Please do not take offence to what people are saying here, no one is trying to be offensive and they are not trying to be racist either.

Oh, and DJ Chris, for the love of all that is good on this planet (which isn’t much these days), if you want to present your company in a positive manner, at least spend some time learning grammar and English. I’m just saying, that when I read your text, I spend more time finding errors rather than focusing on content.
But that’s just my two cents.

i do agree that the marketing a super exciting one !!!
beocz since the machine take over our mix, beatchmach and all the other automix function, who will say that the Dj work becomes more difficult … indeed to configurate soundcard is sometimes difficult.
and if we can bring dreams to people to become a professional Dj, i will do my next marketin EXACTLY THE SAME.
What’s so funny ? to tell that you can be a Dj without the science to be a pro Dj ? did i tell that this machine is 3 times more funny than a CDJ1000MK7 ????
Well, lets make a test with 1000 people out of there, and i am not sure that people will tell that CDJ1000MK8 is better than our mouse.
Did we place the price of this item @ 149 USD too ?
so ? … i am writing in this forum, which may delete all my post,

I bet the ‘jog wheel’ is just a circular scroll wheel. Still not a bad idea, though I don’t think I’ll be picking one up any time soon.

@DJ Chris – We dont have anything against the mouse, its not a bad idea at all. Anything that can bring djing to the masses is fantastic 🙂 Although I personally think the execution could be a little better, but thats not what we are complaining about what so ever.
Its the marketing that is just so way to over the top to the point that it becomes comical that is at the crux of this article.
As Ean said in the article: “If their marketing campaign, brand image and amazzzing claims were instantly removed some people might actually take a similar product seriously”
BOH ! ” “Be a professional DJ in one minute without the science of mixing music”
If i buy 2 does that make me a super-star DJ ?
hihihi! “Or why not enjoy the automix?”
So how does this work? You have to EQ one knob at a time?
Dear DJ Chris, You state that the mouse costs as much as 3 USB cables. You’re right in that. That’s off course as you said correctly products that aim on the high end market. Rather unfair of you to compare those products to yours on price, if you don’t want Ean to compare yours with the high end products.
You claim a “full DJ experience” for 79 dollars. If you then compare this product with let’s say the Korg Nano series or even better the Akai ones that are coming up, You lose majorly on your goal “to deliver DJ to people that don’t have 1000 USD”.
So even if Ean (or DJTT) was not supporting the high end market but was writing this from a budget-dj-point of view, his claims would still be valid.
i just LOVE the design of print ad/video/and dj mouse itself hahahahahahaha
background track ID please, I must have it!!11eleven
…
…
Imageline isnt doing itself any favors here with associating itself with the “package”. Wont be doing anything for them being taken seriously.
On a sidenote though, the jog wheel mouse seems like a no-brainer and I’d use it for a fraction of the price for convenience (gridding and what not)
Mr.Golden is presenting this product, like an execution, fair enough for someone who is working under cover for Vestax.
but …. i still have respect on some of the report that you can make.
may be one day you will work for us, i have no doubts about that.
to all the pro Dj that comment on that mouse, definetely this product is not for you, to become a Dj is not the right of people that have 1000 USD to buy 2 CDJ or any Serato products.
We want to bring Dj to everyone, anyone, so all the shit that i can read will not take out the conviction, that, Djs are not a special race, in The MI business Walmart and Best buy are selling entry level keyboards, not Grand Piano. without giving to all of you , specially YOU, a marketing lesson, for 79 USD, i only can buy 3 pcs of your super USB cables that you had posted month ago.
then …. social network is great for the freedom, and we offer the possibility, with a great software as Decakadance, to open
Dj to every ne . RATHER NARROW MINDED = all people that want to kill that mouse, you should indeed give to that mouse some cheese.
Ean Mentioned that Dj-Tech is a chinese company.

We can design DJ mouse for people that wanna be Dj.
we have no plan to design products that can make people think properly, becloz after all , we are all free , to say great things, or say stupid things for money.
how can a company so bereft of any DJ knowledge atall – manage to call themselves ‘DJ Tech’. Such a shame.. because if NI had developed a similar product with a slightly better design (and without the scratch jog wheel) – no doubt it would be a fairly innovative product!
I refuse to believe that their “slip-mat, optimized for scratch performance” isn’t a gag. I mean come on, who’s the target audience here! Image line made a bit of a gaff when they allowed ‘DJ Tech’ to endorse Deckadance I think…
Still, a bit of solid fun – can’t go wrong 🙂
Oh dear….
Although the sound of a “High Definition jog wheel” does sound tempting. lol
Can i get a refund on my VCI100 i think il just get one of those mice. 😛
Poor DJ Tech, they have some good ideas but some terrible execution – im sure they will get better over time as they learn their market properly 🙂
