The Novation Dicer has been a huge hit with Serato djs by finally providing them with cue points and loops in a very ergonomic location- right on the turntable. With its plug and play functionality, direct mapping to Serato, and $99 price it’s easy to see why a lot of Serato guys are picking them up. Sadly there has not been a great mapping to really showcase what the controller can do with Traktor. Well, wait no longer- Dj TechTools just finished our own high performance, Dicer mapping for Traktor Scratch Pro and you can download it for free right here! Check out the video above for a demo and the diagram of the mapping after the break.
MAPPING TRICKS
This Mapping employs a number of classic Dj TechTools FX tricks including the FX page which has 10 instant FX settings. Each button directly loads an effect, jumps to the ideal parameter, routes it to the deck and activates the effect with one press. No matter what settings get re-set, you know that each button will always sound exactly the way you expect. They have been designed to be used together in groups to create really dynamic builds and effects transitions without any distracting knob twisting. You may want to duplicate some of the groups below into your own layouts- they sound amazing!

I have traktor scratch pro I need to know how to load the Dicer mapping for Traktor Scratch Pro?
Alright, I am getting very annoyed. Everything on this mapping seems to work fine for me, except one of my dicer’s delay freeze (echo out) is freezing both decks. WTF is going on, and how can I fix it???
hi where i can find those dicer mappin presets for traktor ?
My page two uses the Flanger effect, can you please re-upload v1.1 that you keep giving the link to in the previous comments? the hosting site you used has removed it.
You should make a custom mapping for vdj…
The beatmasher and effects are all different than the video, i have delay instead of the 2nd tab beatmasher and then delay, slicer and some weird effect i dont recognize for the third tab. Alot of posts are a few months/years ago, anyone find a solution? I run traktor scratch pro 2
what about fixed tpro2 mapping with led support? that what be incredibly awesome
hey i got a question. I’m probie here. switching from scratch live to traktor scratch. its been crazy and confused alot.. I download the map but on the mode 2 it doesn’t do the beatmasher. but do the slicer. I have traktor scratch pro. Imported the tsi, but don’t see any controller mappings. Any thoughts on this?
I have the delay instead of beatmasher.. is there an updated version of the .tsi?
I have used Serato for 5 yrs, and have just moved over to Traktor and im loving it !
I have traktor scratch duo, I’ve imported the tsi file into the program, but when I switch the midi controller from keyboard to dicers, I gt a blank page.

Hey,
Will u be giving out dicer mappings for traktor scratch pro 2? 🙂 Or do the old ones work as well?
Cheers,

Has anyone fixed the effects mapping issues. 2nd button just goes to an empty effect. Is it because the effects have changed?

there’s def a problem with this mapping. it works exactly like described when i don’t connect my audio8 device. however, when i set up the vinyl control and then add the controller, the effects don’t work like they should (like everybody said before here).
do i have to fix this manually or is there an easier way to get it to work?

I solved the problem on my own. Thanks 🙂
But I reconized that instat the delay a filter was mapped on button 4 and 5 in mode 3. also the slicer has no differnce in its rage when you put the two buttons which activates it.
I’m using Traktor Scratch Pro 1.2.7 and have problems with the Delay effects. They do not appear as listed when I push the buttons on the dicer. Please help me! Everything else is working fine. Great Job!!!!
Tried to load this mapping into TSP but I just get an empty assignment table. Are there drivers I need to install too?
yeah I figured it out and it was a cable problem. The problem in question was actually the 3.5 or headphone cable. So to all the people thinking about buyin these please make sure you bring in your laptop to guitar center or wherever you are buying these and plug em in first. I went to guitar center and they returned the old dicers and i plugged the new ones in and no problem. Now Im just tryin to figure out how to map effects because the dj tech tools tsi file does not have these mapped for scratch duo which is what im runnin?

i’ve been having the same problems. i think it could be the usb cable that came with the dicers. after un/re-plugging the stock usb several times when my laptop stopped recognizing the dicers, i tried switching to my palm pre’s usb cable, and it worked the on the first try!
Yeah…..The Novation Dicer LED causes major problems with TRAKTOR PRO….Meaning audio dropout galore if you use the LEDs in Traktor Pro.
Its not apparent right away, but if you “pay attention” you will notice MAJOR audio dropouts while loading tracks with multable cue points into any deck because the ON & OFF LED “State” seems to make Traktor Pro studder.
Believe me I have researched this endlessly and there is no “work around” and it has nothing to do with settings within Traktor or setting within my computer. My computer is blazing fast and everything IS disabled.
Im not sure if its Traktor or Novation thats causes the issue but I have seen this behaviar with other controllers while using Traktor before (ie Kenton Killamix)
Of coure I am still using the Dicers…..but resenting the fact that I cannot use the LEDs the whole time.
There is a workaround. All you have to do is set the midi output in the controller section of traktor to none instead of dicer. So basically the light will not light up but you will not get those glitches. Also what you can do is go thru all scenes and turn on all lights while the output is still set to the dicer(the dicer will remember the selected lights). Then set the output to none and bam your lights will still be up and you wont have the glitches! woo hoo Now could someone just tell me why the usb connectivity is so intermittent with the left dicer(the one thats not plugged in usb. I do now that I upgraded to TSP2. It was normal on before I upgraded? I updated mapping would be nice!
Same here. But mind is slicer. Hopefully somebody can help is or show us how to change it.

Probably just your cpu not handling it. May have nothing to do with Traktor or the Dicer.
Yes
Does this also map to Traktor Scratch “duo”?
Campy FTW!!
@ Kru Kut
You’ve already failed. . .The Dicers were mapped to Tracktor.
Im using this mapping with traktor s pro 1.2.7 and I get a digital feed back everytime I push any button on the dicer. I think it has to to with the LEDs . It also does this when Iap my own dicers. It’s cool when I don’t use LEDs . But that not cool.
Kru-Kut Your logic is absurd, I can assure you Novations choice to make the Dicers P&P for Serato, and to promote them as Serato controllers had nothing to do with Ean.
From the start the device was designed to be flexible and usefull with all software – As it is, its partnership with serato is just a marketing initiative….
lol @ the haters u guys are wack. serato is so much better than traktor thats why ean made the dicers for serato and not traktor.
u guys are a bunch of douchebags for hatin 4 no reason. traktor sucks!
Ha ha, brilliant! he’s tried to be clever amd made him self look even worse.
—
The whole genius of marketing Dicers to SSL is pretty obvious, if the Dicers were not made to be plug and play and aimed for you guys many Serato user’s wouldn’t buy in to them. There’s no doubt that pointing them at SSL would make more money, but regardless of them being plug and play for SSL, Traktor user’s would still happily buy them. But if it was the other way round could you really imagine Dicers selling as well to Serato users? Really THINK about, it’s all about money!
—
Not all, but a larger percentage of SSL user’s don’t want all the programing potential that come’s with Traktor, which is why the average Serato dj has only in recent years started to add controls to there set up, hence with every SSL plug and play controller come’s the funny slogan ” now you don’t have to reach for your laptop ”
—
On a side not Kru Kut, there really is little point making the sort of comments you often make (unless your goal is to make your self look pretty dumb), as a community us dj’s are so lucky to have the likes of TechTools and Skratchworx. It’s a massive shame that as these sites have got more popular more pointless, rude and nasty comments have sadly become regular thing from the likes of you and many other trolls. I don’t get it, why would you want to damage the quality of two amazing resources that do priceless work for the dj community, is it really that hard for you not to be rude and if you made a clever point to back up your arguments up you really wouldn’t come across as such an ignorant child. Did your parents raise you to interact with others the way you do in here, or are you the type of coward who enjoys making stupid comments while hiding behind your screen.
—
I’m a Traktor user, but would never say Serato sux it just doesn’t do it for me. But lets have a look at the facts, on paper/specs Traktor floors SSL in every area, I’d suggest looking it up you’ll be shocked at the difference, ok thats not important to every one, when was the last time Serato ever won an award for being the best dj software? Traktor wins 5 plus every year god dam it. Even Qbert made a vid proving Traktor is better for scratching which is an obvious conclusion considering Traktor has twice the time code carrier signal than it’s rivals. Oh and best of all is when you guys claim we have to pay for our upgrades, what about the costly affair of going from SL1, SSL2 to SSL 3! Thankfully Traktor comes with a high spec soundcard that has remained future proof for the last 4 years and hasn’t needed to be upgraded just because NI forgot to add an input for record or added sample decks.
your really funny, hope you realize your making the dumbest comments EVER
I’m no way saying serato ‘sux’, but face it, traktor has much much more possibilities.
maybe the reason ean made the dicers for serato, is that if he made it for traktor, serato users would never be able to use them, and if he made it for serato, traktor users would be able to use it anyway.
I don’t think you’d ever find ean say traktor sucks, as this blog is practically dedicated to traktor. You’re showing the intellect I’d find in a 7 year old boy..
stop making ignorant comments like saying that we’re hating (it’s like ean golden who made it, he’s the reason we’re on this blog! +I don’t see anybody hating serato here..) cause your the only one saying traktor’s bad, I bet you’ve barely tried the software, and if you did, tell us why! (saying ean golden made a controller for serato doesn’t count)

I have the dicers and I use vinyl. I Dj with friends that own serato and or a tight booths. The Dicers make it nice . Less cramped and faster setup. I’m selling my vci now.
I’m thinking of getting the dicers for my setup. I have a VCI-100 and use timecode vinyl. Just wondering if you can use both the VCI-100 mapping alongside the dicers mapping or will they conflict?
I don’t get why Kru But come’s here? if he ain’t trolling pointless ignorant child comments about Traktor on here you can often find him crawling out from under his bridge to make the same clever comments on Skratchworx. Maybe if his Bridge was a little more stable he would stay under neath it

Kru kut
If your referring to the standard Serato mapping you must be on drugs – that mapping does everything the Serato mapping does, but on top of that gives you access to dope effects.
@ kru kut
I wouldn’t say traktor ‘sux’, I’ve never seen somebody do these effects in serato with a custom mapped controller?

Awesome video! And good job explaining the functionality of the Dicer mapping. And I like the variety of people doing the videos.
Will those fit on a CDJ-1000 (MK1)?
Great vid and very very nice mapping. But I did find myself pondering your hat/beard/necklace combination for a lot of the video 😛
best thing about this, is showing the level of programing that can be created with only 8 buttons. The same concepts I can put into a trigger finger mapping, with maybe four shift buttons on the top, and 3 rows of parameters. May switch to an Akai LPD8 if only for the backlit buttons. Gotta get home and start mapping. thankyou Ean and team for keeping it next
Thanks for the mapping, I’ll have a play with that later. How did you get midi messages out of the little page buttons?
Great! Just what I needed, dj techtools did it again!
Nice mapping, allmost the same as my mapping for Torq, but I also mapped some slots of the sampleplayer, jump to beginning of a track, instant doubles and stuff.
very nice and very interesting. dicer will never get stuck on serato but for traktor softwares as well! good job dj techtools. very informative. lemme share pls?
Sorry I know it was a lame comment 🙂 Please dont take me seriously, its just that I was expecting Ian! I was startled LOL
oh, and har har, kru kut, who you calling douche? nice name LOL!
