I never post but I’m doing so now because I’d really like to see more tutorials like this one. You know… Getting back to regular tips and tricks. I’ve learned so much from DJTTs and I support them as much as I can.
I would like to see a good tutorial on mash ups in traktor. Like how to select the tracks, where to start and where to fade out or transition. Id also like to know more about which effect combinations sound best together.

Thanks for your reply, but I’d like to know the name of the song at the very beginning of the video. It’s also playing at the end (credits).
Thanks again 🙂

Ok, a suggestion just came to mind. I’d like to see a very in-depth article/ video (or several) about the Controller Manager in Traktor Pro. I know there are specialized articles about parts of it. But a clear A-Z explanation of the manager would be great. I am still not sure how to properly create “out” mappings for LEDs/ lights, even though it was explained explicitly in another earlier blog. Please go at it again and try to explain all the facets of the controller manager, so we can start going head first into the deep side of the controller editing pool and start to do much more with our controllers on our own. Thanks!

Ean, can you elaborate on when it’s best to have (Traktor) Snap and Quantize either On or Off during beat juggling. Thanks much !
Anonymous
Snap is only needed, when you are setting cues. When it is on, the cue point you want to set jumps or snaps to the next nearest beat marker.
Quant is only needed, if your cue button pressing must stay on beat. The computer will correct your mistakes in keeping with the beat. In other words, if you turn Quant off, which you should while practicing beat juggling, then you can also hit the cues off-beat.
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks a lot! I’d love to see DJTT have a page that’s all about technique, where you’ve got a bunch of short, pointed videos about particular techniques for timing, juggling, doing blends, examples of mixing particular songs, ways to use effects from a timing and in-time point of view, etc.
In fact I’d totally be willing to pay for something like that. Qbert has SkratchU, but afaik nobody’s doing the same thing for controllerism.
Ean- I am thinking of buying a Midi Fighter but I have questions. Which Midi Fighter mapping is this set up to in order to play your cue points? Is there a way to switch from a triggering layout to a more FX layout on the fly? Or do I have to have two Midi Fighters for that?

Whatch Eans mapping explanation videos. Maybe your answer is there.
Really, really nice tutorial once again DJTT! I think we all appreciate that.
“And once you really have the snare down, you can add the middle finger. That’s the?? …Middle finger!” 😀

Thanks! Also… you’ve got the same name as one of my all time best friends. But he uses the “i,” not the “y.”
Anyone else thinking what i’m thinking? Where did Ean get that laptop stand!!!?
Is it an iPad smart cover ?
Is it?! that wold be dope, and a good use of something I would have never thought of!
It’s a stand from aviiq, it’s $40. here’s the website: http://www.aviiq.com/

hahaha I just saw this and it’s quite ironic how much this laptop stand is now getting crushed by bloggers from this site!

why doesn’t the basic timing video show up under videos I may also like?
I added the link below the video, or just click here: http://www.djtechtools.com/2010/10/20/rythym-techniques-for-djscontrollerists/
I’d love to get some Ean Golden insider advice on effect layering. You seem to take the Loop/Cue/Effect combos to another level
Good work TT, this helps and keen for more input to improve skills base
awesome article.. as ever DJTT is on top form.
Nice tutorial. Looking forward to more of these “how-to” videos. 🙂
