With last night’s announcement of the Behringer CMD series having a bundled version of Deckadance included with each unit, we knew one of the first items to check out on the NAMM showroom floor would be that software to see what’s new. As it turns out, Image Line is completely relaunching the software with a new look and some features that could be the envy of Traktor and Serato users – read on to see our world exclusive image gallery of the alpha!
FEATURES:
A few quick comments on the feature set of Deckadance 2 that appear in the photos above:
- Chained Effects: Much like Traktor, the vertical effects are all chained one to the next in a vertical fashion
- Clip Launching: A solid sample launching system that lives right in the middle of the user interface
- Frequency Isolated Effects: Apply effects just to one frequency of the playing audio, like on an RMX-1000 or Xone DJ mixer
- Grossbeat Editor: Allows stutter/beatmasher effects to be drawn in, much the same way that Mapulator and StutterEdit work
STILL IN ALPHA
The version we saw is still very much a pre-release of the software built, but it seemed to be behaving fairly solidly at the Behringer booth. The software seems officially resurrected – with an upcoming beta that we’re looking forward to getting our hands on and giving a full review of.

NUMARK V7.
I was thinking more along the lines of the X7 they never brought to market. -Reticuli
No no I mean support it as a controller for this version. It’s the best controller on the market as DMC champs use it and it’s ignored by even Serato at this point which was their launch partner.
looks dope 😛
Might b a good place to start over, rip traktor.
damn! the only infos i can find about it are on this page and on a random video on youtube… need more!
Looks not bad, but what an embarrassing name…
A- Hey with what do you play;
B- Deckadance yeah!
A- huh what?
B- nevermind..
Same situation with fruity loops but the biggest question is, do you really care what someone else thinks.
I’m thrilled to say that I am the person who pitched the idea of (Frequency Isolated Effects) to Imageline. They were thrilled with the idea and committed to implement it. It’s something I had been wanting in a DJ software for years. It’s nice to see a company taking a customer’s suggestion to heart like that and actually bringing it into reality.
congratulations, but if you knew the product range, you’d have noticed it was already available on their DDM4000 mixer …..
Imageline doesn’t make a mixer. This is Imageline’s software and has nothing to do with Behringer!
it’s a shame. not even an innovation in any way
i really do love DeckDance. Always have but been using Traktor mainly because of its comparability to the controllers i have before my S4. Previous version of Deka had bugs so i stopped using it. I am due for an upgrade and would LOVE to get this new one and start building MAPPING for into the S4, MF3D and the F1
Id also do the X1 if i had it here lol

what about midi mapping? the old deckadance was not very good at mapping to unsupported controllers like my launchpad or apc40

Anybody familiar with Synthtopia will recognize this guy, bashes IL every chance he gets. It’s a weird obsession man. Get some help.
it does indeed look a lot like Traktor, but the effects system looks very promising….and i bet a lot of people are going to try recreating Daft Punk’s Derezzed effects sequence on every song they play (they made the stutters with Grossbeat apparently)

I like the visual feedback of all 4 deck faders.. miss that in Traktor as im using it with Novation Twitch and its hard to keep trak of all 4 decks and where the volume fader is

DJTechTools, please fix the way images are embedded in your articles. If I click an image, I either want it to enlarge, or do nothing; not download to my downloads folder.
If no video capabilities, this would still suck balls!

pretty nice ui, hope it works as just fine as traktor.
This actually looks really slick!
I’m happy for FL Stuido to really push Traktor, Ableton, and Serato.
Pretty brutal rip off of the Traktor UI.
I’d say so. I might even like these wave forms more too.
It looks like it has maschine feature on remix decks.
It looks like Traktor on steroids.
I’m sold.
Looks very clean! I wonder if it works as well too…
Looks a bit like traktor.. actually looks a lot like traktor 😀
Looks better than Serato…lol
Looks like you can isolate the FX much like the RMX-1000…that alone being native to the s/w is pretty sick…
This is one of the areas that Deckadance beats Traktor.
You can both thank me for that!
Did you build the berry DDM4000 then? Isolated effects have been available on the ddm4K since it was launched, and you don’t need a computer to make them work.
Again… why the heck do you keep bringing up a mixer? Some people are happy to have this in a software instead!!! Isolated effects have also been on Pioneer units forever and the Korg Kaoss pads to some degree, and the Elektrix units. So what? The software is cheaper!
looks good
