Earlier this year one of our favorite live producers was invited to give a presentation at the prestigious TED 2013 convention – and gives a bit more of walkthrough of the instrument he built in collaboration with audio effects pioneers Sugar Bytes and DMG Audio, the Beardytron 5000 mkII. As always, it’s best just to let the video speak for itself:
We interviewed Beardyman last December on the creation and design of his live rig, read it here!
im pretty sure he is the most innovative musician that will ever live.
Whoa! I’ve seen video’s of Beardyman before, but I didn’t know that ALL of his sounds came from his voice. Without a rig he is amazing, and it’s even better with the Beardytron 5000 mkII… kind of like Professor X and Cerebro.

This guy is amazing! I can imagine a Traktor mapping allowing same general workflow using a loop recorder, one remix deck and some effect presets.
What iPad app was he using?
scamo
Check out the previous DJTT post where he introduces Beardyman 5000, it has more specifics about the tech (I think I saw that here). Pretty sure that everything is heavily customized, but one of the core programs is a beefed up version of Turnado.
If I remember that vid, he worked with SugarBytes to develop a customized version of Turnado (since he runs something like 15 instances of it ) I’d bet on the iPads each having a custom Liine Lemur template since it’s solid and EXTREMLY powerful (if you can wrap your mind around their scripting logic.) He has a vid on his own site where he is in the studio with Herbie Hancock and there are some close shots of the iPad screens. You can see the same gear icon that the Lemur app has on his screens. (Thus my guess on that… ) Anyone else think that the iems on his mic frame are Klipsch S4’s? I have a pair and it really looks like them in the video… Thoughts?
All of his software is custom.
Best evaar.
wow!
I *heart* Beardyman
