Routine: Mark De Clive-Lowe Komplete x Maschine

Native Instruments has just released a new performance video with Mark De Clive-Lowe showcasing the speed of the Komplete x Maschine workflow with the Komplete Kontrol S61 keyboard and their flagship Maschine hardware, Maschine Studio.

The video links to a new section on their site specifically for Komplete x Maschine meaning we’ll likely see more videos focusing on the power of this tight integration. Native Instruments has also released a performance breakdown with Mark De Clive-Lowe, who shares his creative process for this inspiring routine.

Komplete x Maschine – Creative Unity

The performance really shows how fast it is to start from nothing and build a full arrangement with Maschine and Komplete. What’s really cool is how easily Mark moves between the Maschine and Komplete hardware.

With Native map there’s nothing to setup or map for Maschine and the Komplete Kontrol keyboards. Anytime a Komplete instrument is loaded, key parameters are automatically mapped to the 8 encoders on both controllers, making it really easy to start tweaking sounds.

Mark also makes full use of the new performance features from the Komplete keyboard such as the Arp and Chord feature to easily trigger complex chords with one key.

Komplete x Maschine x Traktor?

The unity between Komplete and Maschine is an obvious one, but the question that’s been on DJs minds forever is when will we see Maschine integrated with Traktor? Up to this point there has been no official integration between Traktor and Maschine, the closest it gets is running Maschine and Traktor on the same laptop and syncing them via midi. With more DJs making the transition into production, Native Instruments has to be thinking of a way to bridge the gap between their DJ and production products.

Now that Traktor has its first controller with built in screens (Kontrol S8), maybe this can open the door to integration similar to Komplete x Maschine, where parameters can be displayed and controlled from the Kontrol S8 screens. It’s pure speculation at this point, but we can dream right?

What are your wild dreams for Komplete x Maschine x Traktor?

Great article Ryan. I loved it. Mark De Clive-Lowe is awesome.

Yeah… that’s got to be one of the most misleading videos I’ve seen in a while. Even after the ‘explanation’ video, there really isn’t anything particularly innovative in the workflow. I can guarantee that plenty of time went into arranging and practicing before hand. Plus, those rides in the beginning kiiiiinda make my ears want to bleed.

That was scary good. I, for a moment there, wanted to buy Kontrol keyboard. At least NI’s advertising is on point.

Looks like MdCL is going to be saving a lot of money on transporting all those synths and hardware from now on!
