Reason
Ableton Live
Sonar
Cubase
Logic
Project 5
Garage Band
FL Studio
And a whole host of VSTs.
i personally use the hugely underrated software synapse orion platinum.
it's like fruityloops but a cleaner and imo more intuitive interface.
So many to choose from!
I've tried out fruity loops and it's not what I'm looking for.
I need something that is easy to bring in full songs and cut them up as well as creating beats. For creating minimixes and whatnot.
Which one do you guys think is the...best?
A lot of the people here will tell you to go with Ableton Live.
I really like Reason, and once I get my lappy back from the manufacturer I'm going to start working on tracks again. It's not easy to import things and cut them up, you need Recycle for that.
Get demo's and try them out, see how they work. Best bet, really.
dude you can use fruity loops to bring in stuff and cut up. i used to sample in fruity loops to make my hip hop tracks.

for production I use...
Fl.Studio 8 (I like the internal controllers and layout)
Reason
ReBirth
Reaktor
and various VST's
MacBook Pro 2.53ghz . iMac 2.6ghrz . Compaq 2.4ghrz . Berhinger A5OD Reference Amp . Berhinger Ultra Graph Pro . Behringer Truth B1030A Monitors . Stanton FS Open . Native Instruments Maschine . Numark Mixdeck . TraktorLE . Vestax VCI-100 . Behringer UMX-25 . M-Audio Trigger Finger . . Ableton Live 8 . Reason 5 . Logic 9 Express .
I used to use FL to make little mixes. I'd use Audacity to cut the song where I wanted it, and then used Fruity to stretch the clip and cut exactly where I wanted it as well as play with the filter, fx, etc.
It was kind of painstaking at first, but it got the job done. If you really want I can try to show you how...
