Last year, DJ Techtools made a trip out into the Nevada desert to the Further Future festival to interview artists who are innovating and breaking new ground. In this interview, producer and live performer Daedelus shares his insights into the current state of electronic music, and how his own perspective on it continues to change and evolve.
Editor’s Note: this interview was shot at Further Future 002 in 2016 – the festival is on a hiatus this year – learn more here.
Daedelus Interview at Further Future
Daedelus, also known as Alfred Darlington, is a Los Angeles-based producer, beat maker, live performer, composer, and much more. We’ve seen him around a lot in the controllerism space – he was one of the first artists to really own the Monome as his own tool of choice when performing live.
Watch the interview we shot with him below – and keep scrolling to learn more about his other projects. We absolutely love how he compares the current trend in soundpacks / live Ableton performances to a more classical example (watch the full interview to make the connection!).
Delaydelus
Breifly mentioned in the video above was Daedelus’ own effects unit project, the Delaydelus. It was a limited edition project – to get a sense of the madness that these units are capable of, check out this video:
