When I first got my hands on the CDJ-3000s last year for a full review, one thing was clear: there were a lot of features that could be implemented, but weren’t for some reason. One of the big ones was linked track caching. Unplug the USB drive accidentally? Your track should already be in the memory buffer, as has been the case with Denon DJ’s Prime players since their first release.
Technically, the CDJ-3000s have plenty of power to do something like this, but the solution only came this week. A firmware update (version 1.08) for the CDJ-3000s brings two new features:
- Audio file cache now supports a full file.
- Support for KUVO.
The firmware update is available on Pioneer DJ’s official support website here. You’ll have to download the update on a computer, then put it on a USB drive, then restart the CDJ-3000 into firmware update mode. No over-the-air updates for the 3000s (although we could totally see that being a future update).
