Pioneer DJ has partnered with virtual reality company Tribe XR to make some of their latest gear available to use on Tribe XR’s VR platform. The flagship CDJ-3000s and DJM-900NXS2 mixer from Pioneer DJ are both now usable from a user’s virtual reality headset where you have the Tribe XR app installed.
The best part? You won’t need to purchase these CDJs and mixer to use them yourself – all you need is access to the Oculus Quest platform & a purchase of Tribe XR, which runs at $29.99. It’s accessible on two PC VR headsets: Oculus Rift and Steam VR.
If you’re unfamiliar, Tribe XR is a virtual reality DJ school and performance platform that provides guidance for aspiring DJs. The Tribe Plus subscription comes at an additional cost of $4.99/mo, and gives access to content such as 4 CDJ-3000 decks (instead of the base 2), live video workshops with DJ mentors, on-demand lessons, and more.
Mark Grotefeld of AlphaTheta Corporation, Pioneer DJ’s parent company, commented:
“Pioneer DJ has long been the market-leading hardware and software brand in the DJ industry. Today, we’re delighted to announce our first step into virtual reality via this partnership with Tribe XR. We’re thrilled to be working with Tribe XR to harness VR technology to enable the next generation of DJs to take their first steps in learning the art of mixing, as well as enabling home DJs and professionals to practice, play, and perform on authentic versions of Pioneer DJ products in a virtual environment.”
We’re curious to see what’ll come next from Tribe XR and their lineup of gear available for usage.
