AlphaTheta announced the latest addition to their family of gear today: the DDJ-GRV6. The 4-channel DJ controller is compatible with both rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro – and introduces the ability to remix and manipulate drum loops in real time via the Groove Circuit features.
Key Features
Take a look at the major features worth noting on the DDJ-GRV6:
- Groove Circuit – You can swap out drum parts of a track – even while it’s playing – with different loops across genres. Apply effects like fills, build-ups, and breakdowns for creative live remixes. (Note: this feature is available via rekordbox exclusively for Mac/Windows; it’s also linked to the sampler app on iOS and Android, and to Stems FX in Serato DJ Pro). There are four buttons to explore here:
- Drum Swap – Replace drum parts instantly with 40 genre-diverse loops, all of which are available via free download from AlphaTheta
- Drum Roll/Trans – Add drum rolls, transitions, and build-ups easily with Roll or Trans effects
- Drum Release – Use Release FX to create breakdowns as you play
- Capture – Extract drum parts from a track and use them in later remixes
- Remix with Stems FX in Serato DJ Pro – Apply effects like Roll, Trans, Echo Out, and Delay to individual Stems (drums, bass, vocals, melody) with Serato DJ Pro compatibility.
- Club-Standard Layout – Includes large jog wheels for scratching, 8 Performance Pads, and Beat FX for a familiar, dynamic setup similar to Pioneer’s CDJ-3000 and DJM-A9.
- Smart Rotary Selector and Discover Function – Another nod to the beauty of notary knobs: you can navigate your media library intuitively with a new rotary selector that moves up, down, left, and right. Quickly rediscover or find new tracks with the Discover button (exclusive to rekordbox for Mac/Windows).
- Multi-Device Compatibility with rekordbox – Seamlessly switch between rekordbox for Mac/Windows and iOS/Android (Note: Only channels 1 and 2 are available for playback on rekordbox iOS/Android; Bluetooth is not supported)
The DDJ-GRV6 is priced at $829 USD and expected to release later this month. You can check out more details here.
