Coincidentally, the same day that we publish our tutorial on making awesome TouchOSC mappings for DJs, one of the biggest competitors in the OSC control game is making a big announcement . Liine, who were famous for the JazzMutant Lemur controller, moved development to mobile devices a year ago and now have a brand new version of Lemur that will allow users to customize and edit their layouts directly on their mobile device.
This has been one of the most-requested features for Liine’s application, and will mean that improvised, on the fly layouts will be much easier to test and play with than previously. Check out their promo video below:
There’s one more thing that Liine is showing off as well – Live Control 2, which is coming in 2013 (most likely when Ableton Live 9 launches). In their words:
Experience the ultimate Ableton Live controller, designed in partnership with master designer ST8. Liine has put years of experience in touch control to create the most powerful and comprehensive controller experience out there. Improvise a riff on the Play page, then switch to the Sequencer page to edit the pattern. Choose a key and scale to guide your melodies and use Quick Chord to instantly create harmonies. Use the Modulate page to flawlessly map any parameter from any plugin to the MultiBall object and take advantage of Physics, LFOs and gesture recording. The Launch page gives you everything you would expect from a clip launcher, and more. We even integrated snapshots and morphing.
Pretty snazzy stuff- it’s starting to look like next year the new “in” setup for Ableton performers could be iPads running Lemur next to a Ableton Push controller. Your thoughts?
