Shawn Wasabi – AKA sssShawnnn – is back with a new mashup routine that takes Skrillex’s latest album, Recess (released today) and mashes up elements from each of the tracks. He’s using just a single Midi Fighter Spectra for this routine – watch for his quick sample page changes when he presses the side buttons.
Shawn writes:
“Played live on a Midi Fighter Spectra going into Ableton Live 8.
For those wondering how I switch the sounds mid-performance, there are 3 buttons on each side of the Midi Fighter that are used to switch to different banks. Every time you see a wave of white light pass from left to right and vice versa(eg: 0:34before the “DON’T LET IT STOP!”), that’s my left hand triggering a bank change and switching up the samples.”
Want more to watch? There’s a ton more great DJ/controllerism routines here.
The Midi Fighter 64
Need more buttons? We know many of you have been waiting patiently to see if we were going to make Midi Fighter 64 available to everyone – not just a custom one off controller for a single artist.
Here’s a real update: the 64 is coming in the next few months. You can be one of the first people to get one by signing up on the official list here on MidiFighter.com
Details on pricing, timeline, and all that other information is still being finalized, but if you’re on that list you will be the first to know, first able to preorder, etc. Stay tuned!
