Sometimes a really awesome tool slips under our radar here at DJTT – and Next Audio Labs’ Rekord Buddy did exactly that. It’s not a complicated tool – but it does allow you to very easily sync your Traktor and Rekordbox collections back and forth seamlessly.
The app removes some of the painful operations that it takes to copy playlists and other metadata between softwares (Serato, we’re looking at you to build a tool like this for importing into Serato DJ!). Specifically Rekord Buddy:
- converts the music collection
- syncs all Track Metadata
- syncs beatgrids, cue points, and hot cues
- translates and converts any key information
The software also allows you to choose exactly what you want to sync – and in our initial tests, this was really handy. Don’t want to sync your whole collection over? You can choose individual folders, playlists, single tracks, and so on.
Right now the app is just for OSX users running Rekordbox 2.1.1 and Traktor 2.6.3 (or later) – and is $7.99 on the Mac App Store. If you find yourself running between these two platforms a lot, it’s well worth checking out.
