Not sure about you but I am an 8 year old kid wrapped up in mans body. There-for djing is a professional excuse to get paid for playing with toys. As with all 8 year old kids, I like to twist knobs, move faders, physically interact with and impose my will upon these expensive toys. So if you take away all the fun things to dominate and just give me a touch screen, will I become bored and diss-satisfied? I suspect most people that call themselves Dj Techies fall into this same categorie, so I wonder how you feel about this new direction in technology interface design.
Watching videos like this one floating around lately are hardly inspiring but then again have you flown Virgin America lately? They have these terribly flawed but impossibly intriguing touch screens paired with the original version of Doom! How did we play that game for so many hours!?!? The graphics literally melted my eyes! Back to the point: while I have yet to see anything mind blowing performed on a touch screen, you cant help but want to play with them as well. As CDM reported, mainstream touch interfaces for windows users may not be that far off.
So will we cast aside our mamarian instincts and throw ourselves into the technological abyss of the pure computer interface? That much remains to be seen but I am going to hold onto my arcade buttons for now.
