Microsoft has been announcing new covers for their Surface touchscreen computer, and the latest one out of the gate is aimed squarely at the music production set. Dubbed “The Music Cover“, it’s a backlit attachment that clicks into a Surface and automatically installs a very basic DAW into the Surface.
The cover itself has 16 pads on the righthand side that are “pressure sensitive” (we’re still awaiting technical specs here) and additional channel faders and basic transport buttons on the left of those pads.
Above is Joe Hahn from Linkin Park on the new Surface Music Cover – although it’s worth noting that this video is very much comp’d together and fails to show an actual performance with it’s own sound. We’d love to see how this cover actually stands up to the test – and where it falls on the precision control spectrum.
