Native Instruments have pushed a new update to Traktor DJ, bringing it to version 1.4, and adding a few commonly requested features to the iOS app. First up, they’ve added three new effects that are free to unlock – classic Traktor Pro FX Iceverb, Transpose Stretch, and Reverse Grain. Current users just need to update the app and restart it, and a notification popup will appear. It would stand to reason that NI will likely use this same model to consider selling FX packs in the future.
At the same time, the new 1.4 version includes complete in-app integration of Mixcloud, meaning that you can set a Mix to record and upload directly to a Mixcloud account. Editor Update: This integration does include time stamping – meaning that all of the tracks are automatically tagged with the right time in the Mixcloud player.
To kickoff interest in trying out the integration, NI is also running a mix contest for Traktor DJ users, with the winners either landing an expenses-paid vacation in Ibiza or one of twenty Traktor Kontrol Z1s. Here’s the rules:
Mixes must be recorded entirely in, and uploaded with TRAKTOR DJ. The main voting criteria are mixing, track selection, and originality. Use of iOS compatible TRAKTOR hardware such as TRAKTOR KONTROL Z1, S2, and S4 is allowed. Sharing your mix with friends and fans generates more plays, likes, and comments that will have a positive influence on visibility. Custom artwork is permitted and encouraged. Mixes can be any genre, but MUST be between 15 and 30 min, and contain a minimum of 6 tracks. Competition closes May 31!
We asked Native Instruments if they were planning on bringing back Metadata Sync or if we’d see Mixcloud exports built into Traktor Pro anytime soon, but they declined to comment.
