THE GOOD
- Robust and well built: this is a professional-looking console.
- Design is tightly tied to a 4 deck version Serato Itch
- Well-spaced mixer section.
- Large jog wheels are easy to use.
- Simple understandable layout.
THE BAD
- Poor Traktor mapping.
- Too large to be really portable in a backpack.
THE BOTTOM LINE
For mobile- or bedroom DJs that are using Itch and want a professional interface this is one of the best controllers on the market. The Pioneer DDJ-S1 is good but it can’t beat Numark’s build quality. The VCI-300 is much more portable but lacks the features and professional sound card. If you are looking for a Traktor interface, this is probably not the ideal choice as it lacks essential Traktor-focused controls, however it excels at matching the Itch interface and workflow.
THE UNIT
For DJs that opt to beat match manually, the NS6 provides ample controls for fine detail tuning. The extra-long pitch faders (100mm) match that of a turntable and offers silky smooth, center click-free action meaning you can easily ride out a mix manually and not miss a beat. While they are not motorized, the large jog wheels provide good resistance and a solid feel for scratching. With Serato’s Itch, their responsiveness is excellent.
For DJs that are using a controller as the centerpiece of a live rig, the NS6 offers some great mixing features normally reserved for higher end mixers including:
- Fader start.
- Cross fader curve.
- Cross fader assign.
- Headphone split cuing.
- Dual mic inputs.
- XLR balanced inputs.
HEY GOOD LOOKIN’…
The overall appearance of the unit is quite professional with metal chassis and a matte metal top finish. While the buttons are not exactly “high performance” they do the job well, providing ample lighting and clear feedback when pressed. The faders and knobs are of a good quality and also on par with higher-end mixers in the $500 range.
NS6 WITH TRAKTOR PRO?
There is no question that the build quality of the Ns6 is stronger than the S4 and for that reason you might be considering using the ns6 controller as a stand alone midi controller with Traktor pro. The NS6 supports midi mode and comes with a factory mapping containing most of the labelled functions on the controller surface. For basic controls everything works reasonably well, however the only problem is that in midi-mode, the jog wheel resolution just can’t compare to the native HID connection itch has with the Numark unit directly.
The strip search function has been brought over from the NS7 and works really well for replacing needle drop functionality in the digital realm. Jog wheels are excellent for precise nudging but fail to provide quick access through the track. For that critical DJ utility, a touch strip is quite effective. For scratching the jog wheels work quiet well and are tied to Itch in a very tight way. Here is a quick scratch demo from youtube:
IN SUMMARY
You will be hard-pressed to find a better Itch controller unless true backpack portability is a requirement. In MIDI mode and when connected to Traktor, the controller starts to fall down technically, but with Itch we had a seamless plug-and-play experience. It’s hard to imagine finding room in a DJ booth for this controller, but if you are doing mobile gigs I think it finds the perfect balance of “serious” size with DJ-friendly portability. If you are a home-focused DJ, this would also make a good interface with its ability to incorporate analogue and digital sources. We have been unable to find many faults with the hardware itself, proving that Numark has really stepped up their DJ manufacturing game in the last three years.

Quick bonus for anyone that wasn’t aware, apparently, 4Trak mappings will work with the NS6. Except the 4Trak mapping apparently reads the jogs in HID, not just standard MIDI. Scratch away 😀
doest the chroma knobs look great on the ns6??
Review the Numark Mixdeck Quad please in action be the first so far everyone is unboxing
I would like to see the Machine in action using all ports.
Thanks DJ ArtDog
THE NUMARK NS6 IS A CONTROLLER.SOMETHING MOST CERTAINLY WANT FOR CHRISMAS!!!! IN SOUTH AFRICA WE CALL IT THE:(LOAF BROOD) IN ENGLISH:LOAF OF BREAD LOL!
Love the footage in the exsample videos very well made, thumbs up on that 😉
I’ve been using my NS6 obsessively (6-8 Hours a Day) for the past five months and I can honestly say the Ean’s review is dead on the money. My only disagreement would have to be the buttons are worse than he makes them out to be, their kind of bad but other than that, a quality controller.
since when is backpacking a critereon? after reading several of your reviews Ean, it appears you love traktor. great, get over it! i have used the dennon 6000, numark ns6 and the american audio new unit. after reading your reviews, i couldnt believe i was reading something by someone who has actually used the same 3 products… the dennon doesnt have a replaceable crossfader, guess what went out first when using this ? SERIOUS design flaw. also has 4 faders but doesnt interact with all 4 decks on virtual. you went hard on the american audio which has better placement of controls for practical reasons and light on the dennon which appears to be an 800 dollar throw away.
last but not least, no one wants your OPINION. that alone is bias. just state the facts and compare the same facts from unit to unit and let the reader ascertain as they will. you fault some things on one and yet mention nothing on another. BE CONSISTANT. have a specific order and rate the functionality based on a scale of 1 to 5 stars ( or a system of your choosing ) then 1- platters 2- knobs 3- touch pads 4- crossfader 5 faders , 6 pitchbenders 7 lighting on the deck and so on…..
Ean, i mean this in all sincerity , you are at best a “bedroom” product analyst. you are developing a following, they are loud and clear about this. become a proffessional and you will get the respect AND CREDIBILITY you are after , if not, forget about doing reviews and get back to DJ work hopefully you are a proffessional at that.

Great review. Look forward to picking up my NS6 tomorrow
Great review mate. I like to know off the Jog wheels respond when beat-matching the old school way (Sh*t I’m only 28, and i’m OLD-school) . . . I like this unit. I like your reviews mate. Don’t mind the crazy’s!!!

I know of a store in Melbourne Australia where the employee has adapted the settings in Traktor to get the NS6’s jog wheels to perform excellently. If I recall correctly, “pick up” was one of the parameters… it was a while ago.
Ean, you mention HID in the review. I thought NS6 was purely hi-res MIDI? NS7 had HID protocol on the platters, which is why you couldn’t map an NS7’s platters to anything other than Itch… am I mistaken?
Ean i have an s4. it does some great things but not made for pro dj on the road. after sixmonts parts stop working, like efx on/off/ efx encoder, jack input stoped working and send sound only to one side!! i guess build quality counts for pro djs who want a gear lasting a few years. in ni forums i have found others with similar problem. to be honest ns6 looks better than s4. the gain encodrs on s4 are the worst ever on any controller /mixer. but more than anything build Quality lets s4 big time down! maybe next time making a new controller ean make sure it is something we can use for a few years at least!

If you like to use the NS6 with Traktor have a look here for a modified Mapping:

Hey guys
I want to upgrade my vci 300 and I’m confused… Don’t know what to choose.. a kontrol s4 or ns6. I think kontrol s4 looks like a toy compared to the other ,but it’s more versatile cause of the ammount of effects. What woulnd you recommend me?
Whatever… I must disagree with most of you, this is NOT a controller designed to exclusively work with ITCH, its properly stated its a midi controller, a dj one at that. I bet it still works pretty good with traktor, for most basic functions. Yeah just because it says ITCH it doesnt mean it’s only for that, its just optimal with that program from the way it was produced and designed.
This also means ITCH isn’t that great in versatility, the S4 doesn’t work with ITCH because of itself, that’s ITCH’s problem, not the S4….or any midi controller…
Fun controller, but not ready for prime time… I used this controller for the first time at a party last night… Sound cut out for a second a couple of times, mic had static a number of times and the right deck locked up in a fast stutter once when I was changing a sample on the left deck. Not sure if they can fix this with software updates, but these fixes are essential in order to trust this for future parties

I guess criticism would be fine if this piece was designed BY Serato, but it’s not. It’s “just” designed FOR it.
Numark actually send out a mapping for both platforms so it should be checked. IMO the NS6 has to stand up to an overall review and a check for it’s versability even if it’s main purpose is to go with Itch.
And in the end it’s a midi-controller and could be used with ANY software (nobody is talking about virtual dj). Like Ean said in his intro “…save you some time and money”.

To me, the NS6 looks cheap. & using the S4 with itch would be dumb. The S4 is on a total different level. And before you say the s4 looks cheap too.. i’ve hade nothing but awesome comments about how cool mine is in bars/clubs.

I like this review. It sucks with Traktor and that is good to know, ’cause the day would come when one of these princesses that keep crying about the biased review would hook it up to a machine with Traktor and swear up and down that Traktor sucks. Why would they do that you ask? well because the NS6 comes with a Traktor mapping, implying that it does play nice with Traktor. And yes we can all make our own mappings but let’s get real guys, come on. Great review, The equipment looks of very good quality, digging the booth out and XLR outs. If you’re an Itch guy seems like a no brainer, but for me it’s Traktor FTW which means no NS6 for me. I’m hoping Pioneer make a controller with booth and XLR outs for NAMM. The DDJ T1 would be my controller of choice if it had this feature set.

I agree with others that the review comes off very negatively and appears to come with a lot of Traktor bias. As an S4 owner I can appreciate the comparison but the simple fact is you wouldn’t buy it to use with Traktor, you would buy a Traktor controller instead…
… therefore it would’ve been much more useful to know how it was with Itch! Daft question but why didn’t an existing Itch user (someone with an NS7/DX/VCI-300/DDJ-S1) give it a whirl so people who’ve owned those controllers (me included) would know how they compare?

I noticed you changed the video. Nice to see you do listen to your readers and fans, which I consider myself. Thanks Ean!:)
If I may continue constructive criticism. I would guess the video was cut together rather quickly in an attempt to get it uploaded quickly. However, please be careful of where you make the cuts. At the beginning, all the cuts are fairly professional. But, towards the end of the video, they get a bit messy. In all though, the new video is a better review in my opinion.
One more critique and I’ll leave you alone.:) A short summary at the end of the video is missing. I think in the summary it would have been ok to generally say, “I don’t really recommended the NS6 for Traktor use, but it is a great combo with Serato’s Itch, which it was designed to be.”
Or something like that.:)
Thank you again for listening and do keep up the good work. I enjoy visiting DJTT and hope you can continue to give your experience and insight to us.
And lastly a wish. I would really like to see a “battle of the DJ software giants”, where you truely pick apart the good, the bad and the ugly of both Serato’s and NI’s babies. Maybe even make it a two part series (turntablist, contollerist views). What do you think?

I sent Numark an email telling them what i thought would be good ideas to improve on the ns7 because i had it for about a year and thought there was room for improvement. Most importantly i told them to keep the spinning platters. But the other ideas i gave them was the 4 channel mixer section with the ability to have switchable midi/phono/line inputs being able to work analog as well digitally. So if your computer crashes or if u don’t even have one, u can still play a records or cds. Furthermore it should have built in effects and be able to midi map with any program of your choosing, Traktor, Virtual dj,etc…
A couple months after my email they announced the launch of the ns6. But they screwed it up. No spinning platters, and as i understand it has to be connected to a powered computer via usb for any sound to come out at all. In conclusion, I am not disappointed with Numark for using my ideas, but for not recognizing the praise i gave them on what made the ns7 special in the first place…spinning platters!

Personally as a user of both Traktor and Serato I was very pleased to have it reviewed beyond its primary usage with Serato. Also, I dont understand why people get so upset over reviews.. They are just opinions! I read more than one review so that I can get a better understanding and would encourage everyone else to do the same. For those wanting a review on how well you can DJ on the equipment, its entirely impossible to make that kind of review. What Ean can do on the equipment doesnt mean you will be able to and vice versa.. Reviews of hardware are covered when he spoke of build quality and inputs.
As many working DJs these days use both softwares, having a review covering both is a bonus.

Hey, just wondering why there isn’t an official DJTT review of the S4 yet… there’s an article about its use as a DVS, but there isn’t an in depth, awesome review of the the pros and cons of it like this one is for the NS6… I’m strongly considering buying one as I’m very committed to Traktor, but I’m still waiting to hear DJTT’s opinion about it….

no no no, thank you ean. i keep checking out itch controllers that advertise “comes with traktor mapping”, so, according to you, unless im prepared to use itch, these controllers suck for traktor. whats confusing though is “why would anyone want to use itch controllers with traktor?” hardware enables software with serato, so w.t.h.? an even stranger question, why does traktor stuff work great with serato, but serato stuff sucks on traktor?

Ean, I don’t even know why you waste time responding to the haters, they are always gonna be there whenever you say anything negative about a Serato product, no matter what. In my opinion, it was a great review, and im an ITCH user, lol. On another note, are we ever gonna see that article you promised on your involvement with the Novation Twitch? Or a video perhaps? 🙂

There are a lot of commenters here accusing me of bias in this review because I pointed out 2 things on this controller:
* The jog wheels don’t work well for scratching in midi mode
* The supplied Traktor mapping is less than great
These 2 items are indisputable facts and should be reported in any self respecting review. We then go on to spend 90% of the time applauding the unit for it’s excellent build quality and tight integration with Itch. Overall this is a positive review, but some (mostly Serato or Itch owners I suspect) are using one single negative point as an opportunity to scream bias.
All any reasonable writer can do is report the facts they find and provide a personal opinion on the product in a fair and balanced way. I do wish we had more time with the ns6, but my schedule unfortunately does not allow that these days.
* I am happy to turn over reviews like this to other writers and our editors, but then people complain that I have not reviewed the major products. Other times, if we don’t point out flaws, some start to call that a positive bias. So, as you can see, it’s entirely impossible please everyone.

Thank you. I’m not sure people actually watched the video. They saw one portion of the video, focused, and demonized based on that. I’m not sure why everyone is so intent on calling people out on here. If you don’t agree go read another review. A review is based on facts and experience. Thats exactly what Ean did. Why is it any time anything like this comes out its the same story? Put down the haterade folks.

The problem with the review isn’t one of saying “traktor rocks and itch
blows.”
The problem with this review is that other than singing the praises of
the build quality (and rightfully so), the review isn’t really giving us
the info we want. What people want to know is what it’s like to play
on. It’s a DJ controller after all, so what’s it like to DJ on the
thing?

The problem is that the review is focused for a large percentage on Traktor, which should be a footnote. Traktor functionality is a freebie-they don’t advertise it as a Traktor controller. Comparing it to the S4 makes no sense. The NS6 can do Traktor 65% as well as the S4, the S4 can do Itch 0% as well as the NS6.
Even though it may not have been the intent, it comes off like you are trying to steer people to what you are selling in your store, which was the whole point of your hiring outside reviewers and going back to editorials and tutorials. As such, the review is tainted and will be looked at as something that can’t be trusted, even if it raises legitimate points.

I agree, the video does spend way too much time on the traktor discussion. Unfortunately I didn’t get to review the edit before it got posted, so we have edited down the video review to reflect the written review, which spends a more appropriate amount of time on the subject.

You guys need to watch the review again. Most of the info pertaining to Traktor is not even discussed until 5:30 of the 6:48 review!

I think Gay Zombie sums it up best, I am not a Traktor hater or an Ean Golden hater. I love this site, I have learned alot form it and Ive been following DJTT since 08…or so.
But I also was slightly frustrated at the amount of time that was spent expounding on trakter and NS6.
Ean you are doing big things, keep doin it, dont stop reviewing, Im a fan.
I hope you see this as what is it constructive criticism, we all need to grow with what we do. Blessings my brotha

I’ll take this 4 minute video review any day over most of the guest reviews. I appreciate other points of view, but Ean’s reviews are just more to the point and polished. This site has become all about the videos for me, I get 10x the info in just a few minutes when in that format.
It gave me enough info to decide I’m not into the unit:
1. Jog wheels will get bumped when I mix and stop playback
2. No individual level control (yeah its not mentioned in the video, but I read up on it, and you can clearly see only two db meters)
I’m confused as to why the everyone seems to be so negative about free content. Its FREE. If you think the reviews suck, do something better yourself or you shouldn’t have the right to complain. Sure Ean spent a little more time talking about how Traktor isn’t so hot with this one than I needed too, I’m still happy to get well produced free reviews on a super regular basis.
Thanks for the hard work TechTools team!
“2. No individual level control (yeah its not mentioned in the video, but I read up on it, and you can clearly see only two db meters)” This is going to be corrected in a firmware upgrade so they’ll be gain monitors when cue is pressed and masters when not, like many DJ controllers, so there’s one bit of good news 🙂

I think you should just ignore those comments, writing an explanation gives them more importance that they really have. Great article Ean, lots of people appreciate the work you perform in these website.

Ean u are top dj who do a lot of good for the dj community with your contrbituons!!!
but to be fair your reviews of controllers are a little bias!!!
first of all we dont see you critcise s4/s2 for being not good to use with serato in those reviews. you dont tell people about their not so good build quality which as an s4 owner know to well(actually from all the dj gear i had so far this has the worst and parts fall apart with in 6 months with many others getting problem ,just see the ni forums).in my eye ns6 is better than s4 because it is build to last sometime but s4/s2 are build like toys (not pro build)that will break down too soon!!!
still keep up the good work invent more cool stuff for us to play with!!!

Itch 2.0 is better than Traktor? What are you smoking? Have you really, and I mean really used Traktor outside of messing with it for 5 minutes? I use it on my NS6 and it kicks the sh1t out of Itch hands down in aesthetics, sound effects, and overall usability. Serato really dropped the ball in their redesign of Itch, no doubt about
it. All they did was change the layout and add sample decks.

There’s a sticker that says “Itch” on the hardware… Nuff said.
If you wanted to show a video of what the NS6 is capable of, this one would have been better.
I have to agree unfortunately with some of the prior comments. Too much hacking on how the NS6 doesn’t work with Traktor. I also could feel that you don’t like the Serato software Ean, but you got to stay (even emotionally) neutral, when doing reviews. One of the last comments about “unexpected results” with the sync mode left me with “what? what goes wrong?” in my head. Those kind of comments aren’t about the controller, but more an issue of the software, maybe? Why not do a back to back comparison of Serato and Traktor and get those important issues off your chest? I’d love to see an (hopefully objective) comparison, if they are comparible.:)

Ean: I think it’s clear to most viewers of your video … that you just weren’t feelin’ it … and wasn’t trying to feel it. Not that I’m in the market for one, but I would have expected a much more balanced review. Please return to your roots of loving technology, not just that of one manufacturer. Please create a new video review free of all the negative bias and endorsements for what’s available in the DJTT Store and I’ll pretend I didn’t see this one.
So all reviews should only focus on the positive? It’s sold by Numark as works for both, but obviously it doesn’t work as well with Traktor.

I am sorry but you, and apparently several other people really got the wrong impression. I am feeling the unit, its very well built and fun to mix on. (I was fairly tired that day, which might have resulted in a less “energetic performance”.
My only problem with the ns6 is that it’s just not that great for Traktor, which is a large part of our readership. Just because some-one points out a negative comment does not make them biased. That just means they have the balls to stand up and state the facts. Many reviewers try not to call out gear in order to avoid blow back- I do not.
And to totally dispel this “in the store” bias, we will be carrying the ns6 in our store- it’s a great dj product and one that we would be happy for people to buy.

i want the knobs for the vci back there soooo sexy
NS6 is a way better build than the S4. (I tried them both). Too bad the Traktor mapping isn’t as good (from the review) otherwise hands down the ns6 would be the better unit.

Dude, you have to make your own traktor mapping. When you do, it works well with the NS6. The NS6, imo is better because it’s just so solid. Read my other post.

Damn! I was saving up to use it with Traktor. Loved the layout too 🙁

just remap the bloody thing to suit your needs.. people are getting too lazy these days.. using factory mapping is boring..
dont worry about the lower resolution on the jog wheels.. unless your a scratch DJ its not gonna matter..

Hey does anybody know if those V-Moda Crossfades Ean is using are any good? I’m just curious to know what the quality is like on those.

The review seemed decent overall. There were some serious gripes to be had though. Not much time was spent on the actual mixer functionality of the unit. More importantly though, not much time was spent on the Itch functionality of the unit at all. Honestly, it looked like Ean just loaded up Itch and messed about with the controller for about 5 minutes and said, “hey let’s get a video of this.” Not trying to knock Ean or the site, but the Itch side of this review seemed really half-assed and most of the commentary in the review itself was along the lines of, “well it’s not great for Traktor.” That still leaves the question, “how is it with Itch?” After watching and reading the whole review, the only thing I walked away with was that the build quality is better than the S4, and that the scratching with Itch is tight. How are the buttons, aside from plasticky? From using the NS6 in a store, they felt like the VCI-100 buttons, which is to say not great. Solid knobs and jogs are good and all, but a controller with poor buttons is… a poor controller.

I find the NS6 buttons pretty solid, actually. They aren’t rubberized like the NS7, which would have been nice, but they aren’t cheap, either. What I find with any equipment I play with at a store is that it’s beat to death within a few days and isn’t really an accurate representation of the equipment, unless you abuse your gear in the same manner.

I almost forgot this is an ns6 review, my eyes were glued on the controller in the top shelf beside the x1. Looks like the next midifighter 4×4 with enough knobs and buttons for the efx units in traktor. just got my mfpro beatmasher, I expect a sweet trade-in!

talk about one sided!!! so what it doesnt work with traktor…thats not what its for, get over it! It works awesome with itch and especially virtual dj! Solid job by numark and better quality that that stupid s4. Looks like a toy compared to the ns6

why waste so much time reviewing the traktor mapping? the whole point of traktor+midi is that you can map it anyway you like it… which is the whole beauty of traktor/midi combo to begin with, the way it could be customized to fit your needs, not what the manufacturer thinks your needs are.
on the whole though, i agree with many previous posters, basing controller rating(even partially) on its included mapping is foolish. especially when the controller is clearly not made with traktor in mind.
with a well thought out mapping the ns6 would work awesome with traktor, obviously not as tight as s4, but it wasnt meant for that slot to begin with.

I’m right there with you, the whole cool thing about Traktor is how you can custom map everything the way you want it… what gives me pause is that if Numark wasn’t able to get their jog wheel mapping to work correctly, odds are I won’t be able to either: that’s what worries me, is that even with a “well thought out mapping” there might be some kind of hardware limitation that will never let the NS6 jog wheels play nice with Traktor.

The only thing I want is a 4 deck controller with two motorized NS7 style platters. Preferably native to traktor, but if serato does it first than I’d definitely switch. Controllerism is nice, but I don’t want to entirely give up moving platters yet.

people want to hear good things about the ns6 because the s4 from what i get is not as good as either the ns7 or ns6 as far as hardware comes. They are just better pieces. Problem is they run serrato which just doesnt compare to traktor. Either traktor builds a better controller. Or Numark builds a better software/goes traktor compatible. Right now both companies are holding the controller market from really taking over by holding out eachother’s key missing part. My 2 cents.

This guy is pulling this out of a box and doing a review based on a very small amount of time spent with the unit. If you don’t like the traktor mapping Numark provides, make your own because Numark’s isn’t the best. Unique squared has a halfway decent mapping. Putting this in the “bedroom dj” category because of size is misleading. I put my NS6 next to my buddy’s S4, and the size of both isn’t appreciably different. I think itch sucks and itch 2 is hardly an improvement as they both have the same awful, metallic-sounding effects and they are screen real estate hogs in that the browse section is way too small and the player sections are blown up to ridiculous proportions. The truth is, itch is a solid, but second rate program that happened to get popular, whereas traktor comes from a company known for incredible production software. From a hardware standpoint, the NS6 is unbeatable in build quality. It really comes down to your style. If you want the vinyl/cdj feel, go NS6. If you want to button mash and remix on the fly, go S4. If you want the versatility of Traktor on your NS6, you’re going to have to create your own mapping and realize you won’t get all the features without spending more money on a Kontrol.

I’ve been using the VCI-300 for years professionally and not experienced sound card issues – what issues have you experienced?

I’ve been doing the same. The only issue is that its output isn’t loud enough for some environments.
Therefore if you plug the VCI-300 into a mixer you’re good to go as you should know.
Its quality is very good and it never failed me as well.
The only thing that bugged me (on Windows) about it is that you have to use Asio4All to get it to work in ASIO-mode with Traktor.

Really? He reviewed it for both software, thats the point. Its comes with a mapping, it has a downfall which its not a strong traktor controller. Every time a review comes up every tries to demonize Ean and make him look like a traktor whore. The review is honest, the mapping for traktor sucks, the mapping to itch is awesome. Did the video not display that? Sure it a full itch controller but a mapping is offered, why wouldn’t he review it? You guys need to take a chill pill.

Solo tore it up on the ns6. The one thing i like about the ns6 is the light around the platter so you can juggle without lookin at the computer.

basically as soon as this posted, itch 2.0 came out.. interesting how this was not addressed, esp. because the sync function has been completely re-addressed..

Review of MC6000…great build quality. Everything is way too close together to be comfortable, especially the EQ knobs. Great for mobile work like weddings, sweet 16’s, etc, awful for nightclubs or nightclub-style dj’ing because of said squishidness of controls.

I agree with a couple of you guys. Why is this being criticized so much for not working well with traktor? It’s an itch controller. Like seriously.

Great mix, but that video totally highlights how tiny rubbery buttons are painful to mash cuepoints with. He makes a brave, honorable effort but it doesn’t look fun at all.
ive seen solo out twice now and everytime ive seen him at least he’s been on serato decks and dicers (I think) which is exactly the style used here cuts + cue juggle, the only thing he seems to be gaining from the ns6 is some transport control, im pretty sure his edits are rendered at the same speed so he doesnt need the sync offered, It looks like an advert video for the ns6, would you really trade nice big round lit up dicer buttons and the beloved 1200 scratching for tiny lil rectangle buttons and a non moving jogwheel just to get a transport knob? Most Turntablist of this caliber would say no i think.

even though i like him, didn’t solo steal that one guys dubstep track on soundcloud with no accreditation until people confronted him about it?
That’s total bullshit. It was a mashup, the artists were credited, and kids who have no idea what the role of a “DJ” is got mad because someone was playing their song. Isn’t that what a DJ is supposed to do? Feature people’s music?

It is a controller for itch not traktor, it is unfair to compare it to the s4 in traktor. How does the s4 work with itch?

So true. I shouldn’t be, but I’m really surprised how obviously skewed this review was. There is obviously a big bias. If you market your products – fine – but please stay out of the review game if this is what it come down to.

Because it’s assumed people are looking at this controller as a stand alone midi controller to be used with Traktor as well. There-fore, it is prudent to check in on how it works in that context. from the review:
“If you are looking for a Traktor interface, this is probably not the ideal choice as it lacks essential Traktor-focused controls, however it excels at matching the Itch interface and workflow.”
I think people were expecting the focus your review to be on what this unit is for, namely, a piece of dj hardware. How does it feel, what are it’s strong points and weak points (besides the crummy factory Traktor mappings)? Overall, how well does it work for dj’ing?
That being said, I didn’t find this review “Traktor biased” like people are complaining about, but other than really going into detail about the build quality, there isn’t really any information here relevant to it’s performance, either.
