The new version of Traktor Pro that was featured in the Kontrol Z2 video with Ean just hit the Native Instruments Service Center a few hours ago, and is ripe for the downloading! While we’ve written about the feature set of this new version previously, the final official list has come out – see below.
As always, you can download the update to version 2.6 of Traktor immediately in your Service Center application – although we have heard reports that not everyone is able to see it yet, it will most likely be rolled out completely in the next few hours. We’re especially looking forwardto see what great new MIDI mappings show up on Maps with these new MacroFX options!
- TRAKTOR KONTROL Z2 integration
- 11 new “MacroFX” single-knob combination effects
- “Flux Mode” retains song position during HotCues, Beatjumps, Loops etc.
- Post-Fader mode for FX Units
- Factory Map Override option for individual Controllers in Controller Manager
- New gain system with independent Channel Gain knobs and Auto-Gain knobs
- New “Z ISO” EQ and “Z” filter models as featured on Z2 mixer
- Z ISO EQ is now full kill at the left end of knobs path
- New “QuickSnap” behavior for the EQ and Filter controls
- New Transport Preference prevents Remix Decks from becoming Tempo Masters
- New Transport Preference limits Tempo Master to On-Air Decks to become Tempo Masters
- HID support for Pioneer CDJ 2000nexus (SLIP button is mapped to FLUX mode)
- Minor gain-staging adjustments for Live Input Deck
- Various other fixes and improvements
The software is being released in anticipation of the Kontrol Z2’s release next week – and we’re still taking preorders for that first batch which include free Chroma Caps.
What features in 2.6 are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments.
[…] Get into Macro FX and create this down-lifter, stretch sound for beat […]
I have Traktor Pro 2 (version 2.6). However, the FX are not showing up in the deck display, I have it on advanced. I’m using a M-Audio Oxygen 25, yes I know it’s ancient, but it still works. Any thoughts of what could be going on?
peace…Willy
good perpormance
agreed with @777702bbb62dd472352e0c453df6895e:disqus a walkthrough video of all the new features would be awesome! so much to take in with the update.
the only thing i care about anymore with traktor is proper maschine integration. Whether that’s as a new deck type or via software input/output coupling, everything else (to me anyway) is just filler.
it seems like such a no-brainer! here’s hoping it happens soon.
Have problems when i try too make own remixsets. Using more than one channel im always in the red. Lowering the gain wasn’t the solution. Any tips?
i have a mac and its pretty much brand new (got it in june) and with 2.6 there are some rather big issues with the load bar popping into the red now when on like 2.1 it was so far low. any suggestions on how i can get it back down that low?
FYI – and I’ve seen this in prior versions – if you don’t see the update in Service Center, log in to the NI Website and access the downloads in your account instead.
i dont have the update in the service center? any ideas as to why? and from the way it sounds i probalby shouldn’t update lolol. btw i have scratch pro, so maybe thats why it isn’t there?
Update works fine. Remapped effects and mapped flux mode in my xone 4d. Awesum effects. No problems so far. Cool
loks like remix decks can be midi mapped 😉
alright, got it running, flux mode is the dopest thing for flipping beats…the new effects are really great.played for 5 hours straight with nothing but awesome sauce….props to NI…i truly love it.for skratching, the effects are very useful and abstract…totally a turntablist dream tool.i will keep u posted if something freaks out…main thing is to turn off inter-net,when i did,the cpu load is perfectly low.

when i tried to put a loop on with flux mode on it would’nt go on a loop… anyone else had this problem?
In flux mode you have to hold the loop button in order to stay in loop. Hold vs. toggle bug or intentional behaviour?
was so happy to have all those new FX, so I tried 2.6 in the club last night, the sound began to stutter after 15 minutes of playing, has once again proved that it is impossible to use the untested version. so I switched to 2.5.1 from backup folder – and played all night without any problem. Mac OS 10.8.2, MBP 2010, MOTU UL MK3, X1
Has anyone else not seen this available in Service Center? I’m a registered S2 user, and no update shows up 🙁
me neither.. Im a registered S4 user, an i’ve been checkn everyday. WTF lol
Flux mode! Can I smell a Pioneer DDJ-SX Traktor version here?
I downloaded and installed the update but haven’t tried it yet but am seeing issues with cpu spikes from other posts. No good as I was dealing with them bad in 2.5 . Any prior version I never had issues
Some time in the last two years Traktor updates stopped over writing the previous intstalls thus eliminating the danger of beta testing new releases prior to a gig. Is this no longer the case? If any one can affirm that their previous version of Traktor and libraries are still unmolested and accessible after upgrading to 2.6?
how do i download 2.6….all i get is the run around, please help.can i do this without the new mixer?…is it worth it.please help calkutta@gmail.com
The Flux!!! Will I be able to use with my CDJ-400?
nice new features but i think after some playing with it the thing that stood out for me was that you can have your effects post fader which even works on cells in remix decks so you can add some really cool extra sounds on the fly
Does anything change w/ the midi fighter instant gratification mapping? I have a gig tomorrow and would hate the mapping to be messed up!
my load meter is constantly maxed and in the red now that I’ve downloaded the 2.6 update. Even when decks arent playing. The only program open on my comp (mac) is Traktor, I even have airport off. Any advice on how to lower this (already tried messing with the latency, no help really). Other than that its been working great the few hours I’ve had it (when it decides not to load out)
Try the headroom setting in mixer preferences.
i would real like to solve this also can barley run two decks at the same time now …
Maybe Traktor reanalyse all of your library in the background.
!!!!!!!!! turn off multi-core processor support!!!!!!! my traktor had your problem and would also crackle and pop when i would duplicate tracks. now my load meter is down and i get no snap crackle nor pop!
Load meter turndown audio latency restart comp put it around 2000
Forwardto? Is that a new word?
Can I use the flux mode and EQ kills with an S4? been having a play around and I’m not sure how to activate them….any ideas?
switch your EQ mode to the “Z” eq. For flux mode you will have to map it to some other midi controller if you want to keep the factory S4 settings.
or now you can override factory setting so you can map it to any button on your S4 that you dont use
Are all of these features available even if you don’t own a z2?
yes they are all working fine without the Z2. Only pre fader FX depent on your setup if you have Send/return or mix internaly
i love the improvements !!!
it would be great to see a detailed walkthrough (possibly a video) of the new features come out very soon. I’ve been messing around with the new features for a few hours now and am still really confused as to what some of them actually do. I’m by no means a Traktor expert, but I know there are tons of people out there just like me that have the same questions and would love to see them explained correctly.
Very “Bitter Sweet” update.. super stoked on new fx + eq+ flux mode kills it….. however they are all so nice and new and killer…..that im going to have to completely reevaluate my mapping… like every thing needs redone… looks like its going to be a long weekend with my vci 400..
Any luck on that mapping? I’ve just got 2.6 and don’t fancy spending hours creating my own.
Im working on integrating my new mapping with the VCI 400 ege mapping version 2, i really like the x-fade effects and slicer function on this version, check it out here: https://maps.djtechtools.com/mappings/166 , its a great start im going to put mine up as soon as its done.. taking a little while to rework though..
midi for custom controllers on the remix decks is that in there ???
and no demo then???
Of course it’s not! Why should they allow customers of other products, even other products they manufacture, to access this feature without taking a whopping $250 of your dollars, forcing you to add to your set-ups “footprint”, and taking additional USB ports?
very good update. awesome features. i just dont understand the new gain behavior but may be someone clever explain us. also cpu is eaten a lot more than the 2.5 version.
Agreed my cup is off the scale compared to 2.5 but I would assume they will have that sorted when they update it again
I will have to check when I get home but does anyone know if they have found a way to keep the functionality of the cdj2000 loop functions?
by that I mean when you have a loop on the cdj2000 you can press the out button to adjust the length and then select a length with the needle search strip.
can anyone provide details on this “Post-Fader mode for FX Units”
Are you confused as to what it is, or do you want feedback on how it works?
well I’m keen on post fader effects, just curious if this will only be something for the new NI mixer or if this can be integrated through an audio 10 card or something through routing tricks
Its a software feature and is hardware independent.
I”m gigging tomorrow night. Should I risk it? I’m thinking probably not, but…
Im doing a gig saturday and I went ahead and downloaded it. So far no problems (can’t figure out the flux mode yet though), and I’ve got it mapped with the Beaubryte S2 mapping w/ no problems so far
Nice thanks. I think I’m gonna risk it… what’s the worst that could happen anyway? hahaha! Anyway, I’m just going to have vinyl control and a trigger finger (haven’t dropped for a 3d yet)
Seriously, get a 3D. Best thing I’ve bought yet. The remix deck firmware update is strictly tits.
You shall not update software right before a gig … don’t you know that?
FACT! I updated on Saturday morning and gigged Saturday night. All of my beat grids were a mess. Lol lesson learned.
it’s always like that…
i went for a gig audition and everything was loco.. then the head dj came up to me and lectured me about knowing your technology and also playing what the crowd wanted….
Sorry dude, that’s rough. Hopefully they give you another shot.
Yeah learn to beat match properly rather then relying on sync.
Anyone checked fully resizable window controller manager? 🙂
fully resizable
I know 🙂 Now creating or editing mapping will be more flexible.
It’s been resizable since 2.5 I think. At least on Macs…
So how does this new gain system work? I see I can change from a blue gain to an orange gain.. What the heck does it do?
Also, I love the new eq.
The “Orange” gain is the autogain, meaning that it changes whenever you load a song if you have Autogain enabled.
The blue gain only changes if you explicitly change it (and perhaps also if you have “Reset mixer controls when loading track” enabled, haven’t checked).
I just downloaded it and i can’t find out where to engage flux mode? I don’t have my controller here, and i don’t know if you can access it just by keyboard or do you have to map it to a controller?
Press the big A B C or D
You can map either qwerty or midi, but so far i noticed it only engages flux mode when i use hot cues or hot loops, or beatjump. Flux will not engage on mine when i trigger loops using in/out or the active buttons with a mouse. Begining to look like another hardware only tool.
The loops for FLUX will run only when engaging the LOOP SET command.
You can’t use your mouse but what you can do is map the LOOP SET command to a key on your keyboard. Works great.
Please explain “quick snap for EQ and filter controls”
where i can download it?
in the service center that you should have installed on your computer
“New gain system with independent Channel Gain knobs and Auto-Gain knobs”
can someone please explain what they did their? because i didn’t understood 🙂
In mixer section there is now a blue spot beside the gain knob to switch between auto and channel gain
This is from the readme file and might help you to understand:
New gain system with independent Channel Gain and Auto-Gain
knobs. The button next to the Gain knob is used to switch the
view of the knob between Gain and the Auto-Gain value for the
track. When the button is blue, you’re viewing the gain for the
channel. Clicking the button to turn it orange makes the knob
display the track’s Auto-Gain level. Changes made to the
Auto-Gain amount can be heard immediately and are automatically
saved to the track. Channel Gain can now be mapped to an
absolute knob without worry of takeover issues.
NOTE: if you’ve disabled the “Set Autogain when Loading Track” preference, then
do not use the Auto-Gain view. Adjusting this knob while the
preference is off will end up overwriting the track’s Auto-Gain
value.
I totally love some of the MacroFX and find them more usefull the most of the old FX. Flux is also cool but needs a little for me to get used to. also grate is the option to no have your remix decks steel the master. I’m verry happy with this update just hope I won’t run into any bugs though.
requirements? lol
