how about that Ohm Studio tho? that seems way more useful.

  • DJ Kranky

I think there problem with getting established artists on board is the license. Give away to blend.io and CC? Not tempting…

  • Informer

Seemed cool till i read the read the licensing agreement! “By submitting User Content through the Services, you hereby do and shall grant us a worldwide,
non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, fully paid, sublicensable and transferable license to use, edit, modify,
truncate, aggregate, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, perform, and otherwise fully
exploit the User Content in connection with the Site, the Services and our (and our successors’ and assigns’)
businesses, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the Site or the Services (and
derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels (including, without limitation,
    third party websites and feeds)”

  • I was all signed up and about to upload some tunes but then realized that they’re all forced to be public.

It’d be really handy for collaborative projects or small group things, but I don’t necessarily want to give my skeletons to just anybody who goes on the website.. Private sharing with other members would be really nice, otherwise I don’t see much use of this aside from digging for ideas, but I imagine a lot of people will feel the same way so the pool will be limited.

anyone else trying out ohmstudio? http://www.ohmstudio.com – it is clever in another way 😉

  • I would go for Logic + FL Support! This would be amazing! 🙂

    • Logic is now supported.

      • Great thanks! 🙂

      • Is there a way to convert Logic to FL or the other way around? And can I publish Tracks to specific persons?

        • I can’t comment on FL support but the ability to publish tracks to specific persons (i.e. private projects) is coming soon 🙂

  • Billy Blaze

As soon as i get home, I’m not logging out of this! 🙂

  • J Crenshaw

Took a look at it.. its just a CMS tool that connects to drop box. Nothing fancy, the features are very basic even for a “beta”. Why would I want to manually want to input all my files in a project with their info.

A few days of some actual programming knowledge could have them making a DOM object that handles all project management for them. All they did was make a soundcloud with some open downloading options and a very un user friendly way of listing these projects.

    Nice Attempt I suppose.

    • Chairmonkey

This is very vague for such a harsh criticism. Could you go into more detail about your magic project managing DOM object?

    • zzzuperfly

hm I asked about ohmstudio above then saw your comment, I and some friends have been trying out that app and I have used it to introduce a friend to the digital audio workstation – hands on. Then I would rather ableton allowed me to do this directly…

  • Mutis Mayfield

    What makes blend.io better than…

  • Nondairy

This is super cool! Looks like I’m spending all night downloading people’s project files

  • DonmecZ

Can’t Wait till they get FL-Reason-Sonar-ProTools-Cubase SUPPORT! Great work so far Tho! One

    • Pro Tools is now supported.

      • DonmecZ

Yeah they have had Pro Tools support for about 3 weeks now or so!

  • DJ Markio

I had no idea that this existed – thanks for bringing it to our attention DJTT! (and thanks for the Beta Access!)

  • stefanhapper

This is an exciting project and I see a perfect place for it next to Soundcloud. The key difference is the ability to deal with project files and metadata. And the Dropbox integration works flawless: it took me less than a minute from pulling an interesting track on blend.io to having the project open in Ableton.

From a technical perspective, I like that the site is done with node.js and run by Betaworks. Those guys know how to run and scale new and innovative web projects.

    • J Crenshaw

Now they just need to learn how to be innovative and write some useful code instead of visual functionality.

      • stefanhapper

What are you concretely missing? You mention further down “handling all the project management” – what would you like to see there in terms of features?
