Digital DJs who want to try other DJ software but have invested a lot of time and energy into their collection of metadata (cue points, loops, beatgrids, etc) have had a tough decision to make anytime they consider switching. Would any feature set really be worth tens or hundreds of hours of track preparation? The new Rekord Buddy 2.0 has gone into beta, keep reading to see how it aims to solve these issues and to enter to win beta access to the new software.
Rekordbuddy 2.0 Beta: Sync Rekordbox, Serato, Traktor
The goal for the app is to have a single central database that will sync much of the metadata the DJs build up as a natural result of preparing tracks in playlists. According to their website and their software roadmap on Trello, 2.0 release features will include:
- Rekordbox, Traktor, and Serato DJ support – real two-way syncing between every collection as opposed to one-way syncing
- Automatic playlist sorting
- Playlist filtering, cloning
- Preservation of unsupported cue types (like Rekordbox’s Memory Cues, Traktor’s Load/Fade markers) – when syncing to Serato DJ
Beta + What’s Next
The Beta likely has filled up almost entirely, but “the first 50 people to use the discount code IWANTMYBETA on the Next Audio Labs website starting this morning (11AM PST) are be able to purchase a license to the latest beta version 2.0 of Rekord Buddy for the reduced price of US$39.99.”
It’s not clear how long the beta will take yet, but when the team at Next Audio Labs have ironed out any bugs and developed a final release, the software will be available for an expected $59.99.
